Are you sure you’re doing that right? It looks like you’re aiming for the chest. You’re supposed to aim for the belly, bladder or just a little bit lower, aren’t you?
Funny, when the power goes out while I’m asleep it wakes me right up, because all the ambient noises stop like Lupin said yesterday. I loved this in Indiana. I would get up and heat coffee on the stove and sit out on the porch and listen to the quiet.
It has been seven years since I had a winter power outage. I will never forget how miserable it was to spend just a few hours with the house temperature falling into the 50s, fully dressed and with a heavy parka and every blanket (and cat) in the house on me. I did finally get warm enough to nod off but SO grateful when the power came back on at around 1 a.m. I can only imagine what the people in the path of the storms are going through. Unfortunately we might get to find out in the next couple of days.
I have just read in the paper about the ice storms in America. I hope all the Americans here are ok. Although if the power is out they probably won’t read this!
I feel so very much heard! Thank you, Miss Georgia, I don’t know how you timed it so well (you’ve told us you prepare your artwork weeks ahead), but you nailed it. This week, my state of Texas is in the dark and very cold in a statewide ice storm and power failure. Coming to you from battery backup as well.
My daughter’s alarm cat is a lot like Lupin. When she spends the night, her cat likes to wake me up by jumping off the headboard onto my face. Thankfully never with the claws out.
When I wake up, I make coffee and THEN my wife and daughter wake up. I mentioned to her that her cat wakes me up and not her, and she said, the cat knows I make great coffee.
OT I got home from hospital at 5pm and went to sleep around 7 pm. Slept straight through until 6:30 am. ( one doesn’t get much rest in the hospital). Am doing well, just have to have dressing changes and follow up care from visiting nurse. Glad to be home!
My wife’s and our first house was located at the end of a spur of the power grid for our county. When (not if) the power went out, it went out for days. I invested in a large generator so that we can power most of the house and keep food from spoiling and the heat on.
I actually program my bedroom air cleaner to turn off when it is time to wake up. It is much more pleasant to wake up to the absence of noise rather than a shrill alarm.
Sad times in our pack today. My 12yo Weim crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Now it’s just the Great Dane, 3 cats and me. The barking has stopping and the silence is intolerable as I knew it would be.
I’m in west Texas and the power went off at 2AM Monday then came back on 20 minutes later. Then it went off again between 3 and 4AM and we still don’t have power. The temperature was down to 3F. We get heat from electric space heaters so it got very cold very fast. We stuck it out until 3PM then went to a warming center. We left one natural gas heater in the bathroom on for the kitties along with food and water. We found that we could stay there at night so we did.
On Tuesday morning J-L and I went home to check on kitties and put out more food and water for them and the ferals. Their water in Jora’s room was frozen solid so we moved their water bowl to the bathroom by the heater. We also got clothes and such for an extended stay at the shelter because they also turned off the water. One of the kids and I go home every day to check on everything. The temperature should go above freezing some time on Friday and we can go home. The water is back on but has to be boiled so we can’t chance it. I’m typing this on my phone which needs to be recharged. At least they canceled school for the week. Hopefully we’ll get power by Friday.

My power was out for 48 hours, but it came back this afternoon. Being warm is a pleasure. Good timing on this comic, though.

Miley Cyrus: Wrecking Ball
I howled, I ran, did all I can
To let you know the power was off
Puck interviewed, the cats all knew
It feels like there’s a hard frost!
…….
Didn’t stop and rest, really did my best
To let the Humans know
I just had to try, leaping for my life
This is what I must show!
…….
I came in like a wrecking ball
I’m sorry I had to hit so hard!
All I wanted was to wake you up
This is the best way that I know
A cannon ball is the way to go!

Lupin might look all noble and selfless in panel three but in panel four his enthusiasm betrays him.
