Over thousands of years, many have pondered what the meaning of our life is. If extraterrestrial life forms were to observe us from a distance for many years, they might draw the conclusion that we are nothing but carbon – based life forms that spend our lives moving things from place to place.
I think if aliens were watching us, we’d look like ants to them. We’d be seen as creatures scurrying and dashing from one point to another. One moment we have so much (grocery shopping or piling all our stuff in our homes. Then we empty it out because of a move or maybe we junk a car. Some may get another, or walk away empty handed. Just what are those creatures doing?? They’d think!
Once about 25 years ago (! … how time flies!) I took the train in Chicago to go to see family in Missouri. We were in a huge line that snaked around in labyrinth kind of way… up one lane, back down another lane towards the spot we’d just left and around a corner heading the opposite direction again. Don’t know if that makes sense (weaving up and down like the way a labyrinth maze does.).
Anyway, that day I imagined looking down on us and we were the ants!
The aliens might say: Gosh those ants are carrying more than their weight(the luggage)… how do they do that?? :-}
Luann, Bernice is not the best person to ask. Throughout the page of this Sunday you have always moved and she has remained in the same position without moving in the slightest. I would ask to myself if there’s life IN her!
This one has been around since the discovery of boredom, which came soon after the invention of labor saving devices. Throw out tech and start making your own clothing (spinning a single thread at a time and using a hand loom) and boredom will start looking attractive.
Once, in the Carl Sagan era, the argument was how could there not be. Now, the more we see and observe, the thinking is more like how lucky we are to have made it to now. One of the unestimatable factors is the question of how long an intelligent species manages to survive. We modern humans have only been around for a few hundreds of million years and capable of extra planet communication for a century or so.
the 3rd panel (where Luann is looking out the window) is strangely depressing. The view from outside is of two persons in a prison cell with expressionless faces, the prison of their own routines.
Since neither of them seem to be able to have a relationship with a guy…maybe they should take this moment to explore their possibilities. Just saying…come on Greg, Do something with these girls! Their suspended sexually does get really tiresome.
I live by myself and have had almost no in-person contact with other humans for over year, and I have more excitement in my life than these sad little new adults.
These two are acting just like the people of their age group at my job. Sitting around looking at their phones waiting for something to happen. No get up and go, no work ethic, can’t find something to do even when there are obvious needs all around. It would be great to see them actually put in an honest days’ work.
If you look up at the stars at night, and realize each one that you see, along with the billions that you don’t see, is home to it’s own solar system, it’s pretty certain to assume there is other life out there.
These girls need to get a job. Volunteer. DO something. Luann’s lack of direction and focus make her incredibly boring. And Bern is hiding her superiority complex behind being a psych major.

Take your age and divide it by three. That’s how much of your limited lifespan you have already spent asleep.
So don’t waste the awake part. Time is limited.
