Earl has got you there Opal.

I wear a polo shirt sometimes but I’ve never played polo (except water polo).

I wear running shoes and avoid running at all costs.

I have two pairs of basketball shorts even though I don’t play basketball. I have a bowling shirt even though I don’t bowl. I have some polo shirts even though I don’t play polo.

Perhaps this is why in the UK, they’re called “trainers”? When I was a kid, the hightop “tennies” were occasionally used to play basketball, but never in a tennis game.

Most of the people who wear cowboy boots aren’t cowboys, either.

This is why all my shoes are walking shoes.

All boots and no cattle.

When I leave the house tomorrow morning, I shall be wearing Bermuda shorts, a Panama hat, and my Illinois Jacquet.

And why are so many people out there wearing shoes that belong to Mary Jane?

I wear a windbreaker so that I need not break wind myself.

do they still call them tennis shoes? I thought they were all called sneakers now.

Perhaps Earl has a secret life? That would explain the straw in his hair and the horse trailer on the back of the Buick.

6 months ago, my honey bought some of those tights that the kids wear. She hasn’t worn them in front of me yet. Perhaps she has a secret life?

Those boots, Earl, fit you about as much as that cowboy hat that Bezos wore after his “fabulous foray into space”. . . in other word, NOT!!!!

Opal usually wears bunny slippers, but I doubt she’s cooking Hasenpfeffer for dinner tonight.

since when does someone have to be a cowboy in order to wear cowboy boots? I know some men (my dad being one of them) who owns a pair of cowboy boots as well as a cowboy hat and none of them are cowboys.

Cowboy boots are much better than tennis shoes for avoiding a shoe full of cold water this winter.

Rode our old horse when I was a kid. Parents were very careful. Always had to ride without a saddle because we didn’t have cowboy boots. “If you fall off, your foot might get caught in the stirrup and you’d get dragged” Fell off a lot. Also wasn’t to tie the reins. Our horse was a retired cowpony who would stop when the reins dropped. Never forget her looking down at me after I fell off again. If a horse could roll her eyes.

Works for me.

The important thing is, they get to denigrate each other! You could make a case that Earl and Opal have a sadomasicistic relationship.

Nobody wears cowboy boots outside their pants, but I suppose it has to be that way so we can see them.

I don’t own a pair of shoes and can’t remember when I ever owned a pair. I have worn cowboy boots or dress boots all my life for the arch support they gave me because I am flat-footed ( which almost but not quite kept me out of the Army ). Even my athletic shoes have orthopedic arch supports in them.

I wore Motorcycle boots for years, they were comfortable and had nice skid proof soles. Wore them to work until I wore them out. But I did not have a motorcycle at that time

This drove me nuts when I worked in shoe department. The generic term is athletic shoes. Under that are basketball, running, walking, soccer, etc.

In the ’40s we played Cowboys and Indians, which society has now outlawed. I bet my boots are lost somewhere in the basement.

But Earl – only FooFoos tuck their pants in their boots.

Earl is now in deep yoghurt… Best way to win a point with the lady is your life is not to.

Not cowboy boots, they’re Western boots.

I see from Earl’s outfit that he is a cowboy…

I am on Opal’s side. anyone can wear either tennis shoe or canvas shoes.

There’s a pretty big comfort level difference between tennis shoes and cowboy boots, that’s why you see retired cowboys wearing tennis shoes.

Not only cowboys wear boots.

more importantly, why are they both wearing outdoor footwear inside the house…?

I wear loafers.
