“Guess we can sleep in” is one of the most beautiful sentences in the English language. Possibly in other languages, too, but I can only speak for this one.
Hope Lupin left the Woman’s phone on her nightstand…a photo of the kids in their self selected snow gear will be ‘embarrassment gold’ when they are teens.
Now I am kind of wondering if the Boy ever actually called his parents “Mommy-Dad,” because I find it hilarious! Leave it to kids to remind parents the joys of a snow day. I kind of need it after the recent winter weather.
On Monday, here in Tucson, it was a sunny, beautiful 80-degree day.
Today, it is 46 degrees, windy, rainy and the wind is very cold. Feels like about 30 out there. It is likely snowing in the mountains.
It always amazes me how the weather can change dramatically over such a short period of time. During our summer Monsoon, it can be 105 degrees. When we get a rainstorm, the temperature drops to 72 or lower in about 10 minutes or less.
We are ringed by mountains, the highest of which is around 9,400 feet, giving about a 6000 foot vertical drop. During the summer, when it is 105 on the valley floor (which varies from around 2,500 – 3,000 feet above sea level), I can drive to the top of Mount Lemmon and it will be 68 degrees.
Way back before there was good meteorological reporting (late 50s), some boy scouts went on a day outing to Mount Wrightson (then called Mount Baldy). They were unaware of an approaching storm (it was early November). They left Tucson in nice weather (70 degrees) and got trapped in a snow storm. Some of the boys made it down, but three of them apparently got lost on the trail and died. It is a gripping story. It is available on Amazon. “Death Clouds on Mt. Baldy,” by Cathy Hufault, who is the sister of one of the hikers. I have read it more than once.
That Man has furniture in places he seems reasonably happy with finally. For a couple of weeks now the living room has just been an ongoing Tetris game, each level cleared by that Man stepping back and saying, “hmmmm.”
Next I imagine he will unpack the many, many books.
I have not created such stress in my giant plastic kiddie pool. I have left the smooth warm stone where it was originally placed. I have not troubled myself with the driftwood (I never do. I don’t understand its purpose), I have eaten spinach as it has been tossed into the pool.
As a matter of fact, I am tweeting this from the smooth warm stone, under the heat lamp. A good spot on this cold winter evening. That Man has left me with a small bowl of popcorn. Most enjoyable.
I had to move house (not my decision, but had to be done). My cat is not happy and neither am I. She has been hissing and growling at me and, honestly, I’m afraid of her…..lol.

Is that Elvis reporting, or is it Robin?

“Guess we can sleep in a little!”
Man, you have cats and kids! Dream on!
It’s time to eat for the cats and it’s time to play in the snow for the kids. (Do NOT confuse the two!)

Elvis, stop trying to sugar-coat it. This is a disaster, a complete catastrophe. Tell them plainly that they are doomed.

I think Elvis is putting his own thoughts into his reports. How unprofessional…

By Irving Berlin, performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and others: I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm
The snow is falling, and sleep is calling
The kids are loving the storm!
Dressed for outside, it does have its charm,
But I’ll stay inside and just keep warm!
…….
Elvis predicting, with strong conviction,
Disaster looms, snowflakes swarm!
And horror awaits, he has to inform,
So all stay inside and just keep warm!
…….
On with the snow suit, pants on my head,
Going outside there’s nothing to dread,
My gloves are ready, the snow is steady,
Why stay inside and just keep warm?
…….
The snow is falling, and sleep is calling
But snowsuits and boots must be worn,
Going outside, it does have its charm,
But I’d rather stay inside and just keep warm!
