Wow, That will leave a scar. The latest one of my house is about 6 months old but before that it was 2 years.

Googled our house and the pic is over two years old, so I guess they’ll be back some time this year. Interesting that all license plates get erased.

I have a neighbor with a bunch of junk in his driveway. He is seen on google map sitting on his folding chair, cheapening the neighborhood.

The Google Street View car drove past my place after a freak wind storm took down half my tree and before I could get a tree service to clean it up. I went into Google Maps, looked up my address, and used the report tool to request they blur out my property.

Where I live that junk will sit there forever until I pay some to take it away. Garbage collection is limited to what fits in the rolling bins.

It’s now there forever. Street view now has history/timeline so you can see all the past pictures at that address.

Several years ago, I was sitting in the shade of one of our trees reading a book when I heard a car approaching. Before I realized it was the Google car, I instinctively raised my hand to wave. Yep, I got pegged.

I’ve only known of one photo of my house, built 20 years ago w/ the Google photo taken about 12 years ago. This photo was still up last year, but I haven’t looked since then. I had just returned home from work and saw this odd looking car coming down the road, I stood on my porch at the top of the front steps watching this strange car go by and sure enough, I’m in the picture appearing to be giving the world the evil eye. I’ll have to look to see if it has been updated.

I passed the Google car once in a parking lot. After a couple of months, I went to that location on street view and there I was. Pretty cool.

    Off topic.

A couple of days ago, I mentioned that I was fortunate in that I was able to recycle an old CRT monitor. This morning, I realized that my memory was incorrect.

When I took it to the recycler, he told me that the CRT had nothing of value to a recycler. Needless to say, that caught me by surprise.

Although he couldn’t accept the monitor, he kindly offered his Dumpster so that I wouldn’t have to take the CRT back home.

Too bad Arlo did not decide to repack the bearings on their car, so it was up on blocks in the front yard.

I was smoking outside my work one day when they drove by. To this day, coworkers will ask, “Is that you flipping off the Google Maps car?”

    “Yup.”

As I mentioned to Da’Dad, I also had the Evil One blur the photo of my house, and this thought finally occurred to me.

Google and Microsoft sell photos of our private properties to other companies. If we decide not to have our property blurred, Google and Microsoft should give us a cut of the profits.

    Hmm… Class action suit, maybe?

I had some fun with that vehicle once—followed it around an entire town street by street. My Jeep appeared in a number of views for years afterward!

The metal scavengers in my neighborhood have some kind of radar; they always show up within 15 minutes if we put anything metal at the curb.

Around here if throwing that much and such large items one has to call and make a special appointment for it to be picked up – no charge from township for the pickup, but will not be taken if too much or too large (and there is no specification for either).

But there are people who drive around on the night before garbage pickup – even regular same – to see what people have put out and take what they want. As a solution to our all in one laser/fax/printer/scanner no longer being able to print without a mess on the page, but not wanting to get rid of it as we need the fax on and off and they are hard to find plus it has a really good double side scanner, our solution was to get rid of the copying machine I had inherited from dad when he died and I took over his accounting practice and replace it with a new smaller laser scanner/printer.

We managed to carry the old copying machine out to the curb (huge and heavy – we carried it downstairs together one step at a time). I made sure to tape the wires to it and tape the paper drawer closed. I attached a paper to the top of it “works – please take it” and it disappeared the first night afterwards that garbage was picked up the next day. I was so glad that it was going to live on for someone else (have had it about 25 years after dad had it for a long time also).
