I had one of those ‘Mickey Mouse’ telephones in my college dorm room, too .. in the late-1980s.

I used ‘Mickey’ as my phone throughout the 1990s, too — and I still have him — in a box, somewhere, in storage.

haven’t had a ‘landline’ since 2002 ..

I don’t remember. Was that style of drink glass around back then?

I remember those paper and wire lampshades. I want one now, but they don’t seem to make them any more.

I know the smartphone is great and all but I miss the novelty landline phones. Are landlines even a thing anymore?

I remember those Mickey Mouse phones. They made the rotary and the push button models. I started to buy one. I sure wish I did!

Cinder block book shelves……ever present college furniture

Weighed over 30 pounds apiece. No wonder they were quickly replaced by plastic milk crates.

The cinderblock shelving in the background is classic college chic, too!

I had completely forgotten about cinderblock and plank shelving, although you had to stand the blocks on-end to fit books.

I had a Mickey Mouse telephone like that. The grandkids love playing with it. And without ever having had a home-phone, they instinctively know what to do with it.

Mickey didn’t like the late-night call?

I like the concrete block book case. I had one of those when I was in university.

I had a telephone just like that with a dial. It was one of the many things I sold on eBay when I starting paying the kids’ college tuition.

I’d forgotten how when you used to pick up the phone too fast, the cord would be drawn up or tangled, and you’d pull the phone off the table.

Cinder block bookcases are a nice touch. We also used milk crates to build them. We could get them form the local dairy store for a $5 deposit.

Awesome. I can’t read the comics unless I turn my ad blocker completely off, and am then inundated with all the pop-up ads that almost cover the damn comic. fu, GoComics.

I hope he didn’t wreck the phone. Those are selling for as much as $500 on eBay now.

I got and still have one of those Mickey phones a lot of years back before Disney went “woke”. ..

Where’s the chianti bottle with the wax from candles dripping down?
