Sunday I was happy to get home early, so I opened the windows for my Purrsha to see outside. While I was still standing next to her, a BIRD flew right next to the top of the window and hung by the eave for a few seconds! Purrsha was real excited and we both were staring at it, until finally it realized āACK! CAT! HUMAN!ā and flew off, at which point my girl chirruped in an odd but excited way. It was a really neat experience! Iāve thought about getting a bird feeder so she can watch them.
Whenever I wanted to demonstrate āmutual cooperationā for cats and dogs, I would use this same demonstration.
I would plop wet canned cat food on top of the head of one of the cats. My cats could not stand being dirty. So, getting wet food plopped on their head was a most egregious act. The offended would look to their mates, and lower their heads, so that the others could eat/lick the food off their heads.
I would tell my young kids at the time, see, it helps Salem because heās clean now. It helps Simba the dog, because he gets an extra plop of food. Both benefit, and both cooperate. The lessons took. Both kids are lawyers now. One works for the State and the other works for Political causes.
I remember reading an article a number of years ago from a cat servant who interviewed an animal-behavior specialist and wondered about her cat, who constantly stuck his head over the food bowl, causing the food to fall on his head as she dispensed it, and wondered why he didnāt learn. She was told, āBut he has learned. Heās learned that if he sticks his head over his bowl and food falls on his head, he gets to eat.ā
Iām getting old and a little clumsy. My fear is dropping a can of cat food on a cat. I buy the smaller cans but still, when they are milling around my feet just under the storage shelf, I have to focus my concentration on my grip.
Off-topic: I was eating outdoors at a restaurant on the dock in Morro Bay. A persistent seagull kept approaching on foot. I would shoo him away but he kept coming back. I finally threw ice from my water glass at him. He ate the ice!
Whereās Goldie in the final frame? I donāt mean Burtās clip within the final frame either, that doesnāt count. Thatās a clip showing what usually happens so thatās a past tense Goldie. Iām wondering about a present tense Goldie cleaning Elvisās head.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Thomios: So Floofnet is planning on coming here to visit? Thatās wonderful!
Puckmosis: Thatās right. Heāll send word by scroll to let you know when heās coming.
Thomios: Iāll be waiting for the Papyrus Cat every day!
Enter Elvis-Anum
Elvis: I suppose by the Papyrus Cat you mean Kat-Mandu.
Puckmosis: Well, those papyrus scrolls donāt deliver themselves. And you have met Kat-Mandu.
Elvis: Alright. There really is a Papyrus Cat.
Thomios: And there really is a cream pitcher. Elvis, would you mind bringing it in to the dining room?
Elvis: Not at all.
Sometime Later
Lupinium: Uh-oh. Looks like someone got careless with their cream tea.
Elvis: Not careless, just a slight miscalculation of the trajectory of the pitcher.
Lupinium Of course. You didnāt mean to grab the pitcher from across the table before Tillie got ahold of it.
Elvis: I do admit to being a trifle over-enthusiastic. Anyway, I had been planning to make an appointment with the Royal Groomers soon.

And in an astonishing turn of events, the tidbit was allowed to stay there long enough to be documented on camera.
