As usual Luann listens to Bernices life issues and responds like a friend would ..whereas Bernice dismisses everything Luann says within 3 seconds like Luann is an idiot not worth her time.

What ever happened to the story we all wanted to see. Tiff, Bets, Gunther – maybe even Steff, Ox even others at the pool party at the manse.

Which is the problem, they can describe relationships but they don’t really know or understand them, particularly romantic ones. Lu is further along on that than Bern is, but I have a feeling both Bern and Nil are about to get an object lesson. Hope poor Pud gets to chase the ball by Saturday though.

Therein lies Luann’s problem. At least where Puddles is concerned…he exists only to listen to her babbling except when Bernice is there. He must be so happy when Bernice visits so he could have his much-needed break.

Wasn’t “romance” the only thing Bernice found interesting about Nil at all?

Zero playtime, zero attention to Puddles.

Has anyone else noticed how many animals—especially dogs—appear in TV commercials lately?? Even those that are not for pet products??

Not hard to figure out why—with the black days of the pandemic, mass-shootings, and the Orange Baboon’s presidency, it’s our 4-legged “babies” who stand between the human race and total insanity!!

Poor Puddles, but it’s a perfect metaphor to show how little both Luann and Bernice have the ability to maintain a relationship. But if I’m amazed by Luann, she always seemed way more capable than Bernice in this to me.

Maybe this question has been asked before… But is puddles the only character that has remained the same since the beginning of this comic?

So here they are talking about romantic relationships with other human beings. Then Luann transitions the subject to relationships with pets (which is confusing because there is no realistic comparison). How does the way one cares for a pet have anything to do with how they interact with a human love interest? Luann changed it to pets and claims to show empathy because she doesn’t have any successful romantic interests to refer to. Quill was her last boyfriend and she completely disregarded his career choices and needs. Puddles’ final expression is priceless!

Hey honey, you seem upset about something. Do you want to chase the ball for awhile?

My dog listens to me and understands me far better than my husband does. I’ve had the dog 6 years, the husband over 30 years.

Putting aside the joke about Puddles, Bernice is certainly doing a lot of rationalization about her supposedly now non-romantic relationship with Nil. If I were her (she?) I’d take a long hard look at why she was so focused on suppressing her physical feelings for him.

Reminds me of an old joke with a hunting dog. But I can’t repeat it here.

Considering LuAnn has a short attention span, except when it directly concerns her, it’s not surprising she has already lost awareness of Puddles needs.

The “joke” every day of this week has been that Luann brought Puddles to the dog park to play with but somehow can’t play with Puddles while talking to Bernice. In short every day this week Greg has been saying that Luann is too dumb to walk and talk at the same time. Forget the alleged humor and play with Puddles while talking to Bernice. Either the talk with Bernice is interesting in itself or it was never worth having this conversation. Greg needs to grow up.

As thick-headed as Bernice is being here about Nil (and uncharacteristically so), I feel she has a point in the start of this strip. Sometimes romance complicates good friendship. Relationships to be successful are about much more.

Luann is totally tone-deaf. She does not deserve Puddles. I guess she does deserve Bernie.

Puddles can wait 5 minutes while Luann talks to Bernice. Puddles expression is the punchline of today’s comic. If Luann kept throwing the ball while she talked, the comic wouldn’t be funny.

Like the time she lost him, and he became a dorm puppy.

Poor Puddles. If only he could talk.
