We seem to be muddling our way thru this “summer arc.” Tiff and Bets, now free of their competitive bet, now see the wisdom of daddy Tom. Gunther was just there yesterday’s strip but now has been replaced by Les and Ox. Tiff jinxes the move by commenting on how lucky they’ve been not to break any thing; either that or it’s because she’s carrying that box upside down.
Given how this is playing out, I don’t believe we will see the damaged item tomorrow. Probably we’ll see the storage items have all been re-stored and or returned before school. The End of the Summer Arc.
I kinda hope that crash is coming from one of Stef’s stuff. That aside, it’s good to see Bets and Tiffany understand their errors. This whole situation was a learning experience from both of them.
Considering they’re both supposed to be business majors, darn tootin’ they should have thought of the liability! Actually this goes to show that neither one of them knows ANYTHING about opening a small business, not even the bare basics.
Even non-business majors would have known that storing other people’s belongings in a house you don’t own and that isn’t meant to be a storage facility is a bad idea.
Oops! Maybe Les should have stuck with “supervising”! Buyer’s remorse….. wonder if that belonged to Steph. If so, I can hear the dramatics already! =:-o
That’s why I’ve always advocated starting a trash hauling business versus a furniture moving business; everybody has trash; everybody wants to rid of trash; and, if the trash gets scratched or broken, who cares?
Self storage are just that-they rent you a unit and then you are responsible for moving your items in and out and for providing the lock. The owner of the unit never takes possession/touches the property. The owner of the storage facility is not usually responsible for theft/fire UNLESS he has been grossly negligent. It is like if you rent an apartment and someone breaks in and steals your stereo system/computer. Tough luck for you unless the landlord knew the door lock was defective. Tiffany actually has taken possession of the property and allows other people to move the items so she has total liability.
Out of all the characters I can think of, Gunther and Crystal (and maybe Toni) are about the only ones who can be trusted to handle things carefully, and no one gets hurt. The parents would have good intentions, but if they carried heavy loads, they could be injuries waiting to happen. “Watch your step” and “Don’t hurt your back” take on a new meaning as one hits middle age, even if their health and fitness levels are in the 99th percentile!

Nice to see that Les is just as useless as ever.
Now as to ladies.
Bets and Tiffany? Are you two ready to place that phone call to Simone of Souffle and get your feet in the door for a real Summer job next year?
Had you done that, you two could have been interning in Paris instead of babysitting “folk’s” Junk for the Summer.

Nobody noticed the quick outfit change. Tiffany was in a button front dress and bets was cosplaying, today they’re both in t-shirt and shorts.

That “CRASH” sound was actually Les’ back. It will be OK because Ox said he would glue it.

Everyone is so tough on Les. Considering who his mother is, he turned out pretty well and is getting better.

Well—at least he IS helping, and not “supervising”.
BTW, I wonder if that’s part of Stef’s junk that got broken.

No one seems to have noticed that, in the last panel, Les is blaming Ox for the crash and implying that he (Les) was crashed upon.
