The fact that there are people that see admirable qualities in Hitler is shocking. What’s even more shocking is that one of them was an occupant of The Oval Office.

Even if you look at it from only the a German point of view, he was a complete failure and disaster. Germany was destroyed because of him. It was a far smaller nation after Hitler than before. It’s young men slaughtered. It’s women and girls raped and murdered, especially in the Russian occupied zone. Yet, there were and are people who believe Hitler was the best thing to happen to Germany.

Keith Olbermann’s podcast on “America’s Hitler” and Trump’s embrace of the Qanon is worth hearing:

At one point Saddam Hussein invited his top generals and advisors in for a little “let your hair down and tell it like it is” session. “Nobody here but the members of the inner circle,” he noted. “And we need the best advice we can get. Don’t hold back. Everything’s on the table. What are we doing wrong? Everything stays within this room.”

Thruout the ensuing discussion he stayed silent, just nodded and took notes. Then, after everyone had spoken his piece, he had his harshest critics taken out and shot.

There’s always a problem when those with an inferiority complex [or those falsely feeling victimized] become a large enough cohort following a delusional “leader” willing to strike down those that — often unknowingly — offend them.

The ‘22 and ’24 elections are America’s pass/fail test. If you believe in freedom, vote Democratic. If your vision for 21st Century America is 1930’s Germany, vote Republican.

Where’s the blood on his hands? I thought he would be drawn that way to remind everyone of the hundreds of thousands of Americans that died from the incompetent way he ran the country during COVID.

Well, at least we’ve stopped dancing around ignoring the Nazis in the room…

Just this week there is an article about one of those quaint, tiny 1800s era Swedish immigrant country churches in South Dakota, that has been taken over by a hate filled, Hitler loving, White Nationalist “preacher.” “Hell burns hotter for some.”

He booted or forced out the old timers and descendants of the founding families who didn’t appreciate his sermons explaining why Jesus loves guns, hates immigrants and gays, and featuring readings of the constitution. He says churches should be in the politics business (umm, remember the tax exemption clause?) His services sound like nothing more than prop bible waving, MAGA/Q conspiracy rallies.

He went ahead and just violated the rules and changed the church constitution (sound familiar) to take control of the cemetery board, a separate entity, because he wants control of the valuable farmland it owns. And he posted armed guards at the door to keep out the folks who disagreed with him when he did it.

So yeah, just the typical small church upheaval when leadership changes, until you factor in that, in this bucolic, rural setting, smack in the middle of the nation, his charismatic preaching and “message” is growing the congregation.

There was a German war bride at my job when I started. She worked at an aircraft factory during the war. She’d glow as she talked about how much fun the war years were and how the workers sang songs during their lunch break.

It was easy to get the impression she thought the wrong side won.

Trump’s “special ball” reminds me of my title for his next book “The Art of the Misdeal” – any time he does not like the rules, he claims they discriminate against him.

My mother’s family was from Germany. My grandmother had a visit from an old friend from Germany…this was approximately 1960. This old woman, in 1960, thought Hitler was the best thing that ever happened to Germany.

I wonder if there is any reliable evidence for any of this; it sounds like a collection of fables. In spite of all that is said, Hitler seems to fascinate a lot of people. I especially notice the fixation establishment liberals (generally, Democrats) maintain with Trump, and with the Trump-is-Hitler narrative. Don’t they have anything positive to put forward? Fixedly identifying their opponents with Hitler is not a program or a policy.

You can fact check me on this, if you want to reply with some truth rather than just spouting off.

In the 1920s or 1930s, the main KKK activity was located in Indiana and the and Northwest Territories. When the white power base in Coeur d’Alene was sued out of business by SPLC, their founder (William Franklin, I believe) moved to northwestern Pennsylvania. I spent a year in mostly rural Arkansas (Clarksville) for college. I loved the area and really liked the people. I was there the spring Dr. King was assassinated. I see the main difference between lynching and redlining as the difference between violent, personal racism and cold, calculated racism that might also be genocide. It keeps people from living or working where they might be better able to improve themselves. This leads to poorer health outcomes for any number of reasons.

I will get off my soapbox now. I think anyone who fact-checks me will find the basics are true if the details are a little off. If you want to correct me civilly, I welcome that. If you just want to rant, I will have found where a troll dwells.

The comment about the Wehmacht generals simply shows that they were competent professionals. What is disturbing about Trump is that he self-identifies as Hitler, much worse in my book than identifying as trans.

Why would anyone use conservative and trump in the same sentence. He certainly isn’t, never was, and managed to to turn the republican party from conservatives to a cult. Republican conservatives and democrats need to all be voting for democrats it is the only way republicans can get their party back.
