I am happy, VERY happy, with Georgia’s decision to freeze the BCN universe in time so that no one will die here.
That being said, it might be nice to maybe somehow have a vision into the future and see Baba Beatrix with her own crew of wee ones, without having to go through the pain of nearly everyone else crossing the Rainbow Bridge. (Maybe with a Ghost Elvis and a Ghost Tabitha, still not quite friends, looking out for her?)
Or, maybe that’s better just left to our own imaginations. Maybe it’s better just to know that something like that will happen someday (far in the future) without having to see it.
Is Angus with Baba’s mother? Is that where he got his eyes? The ghost cat with Angus has the same face markings as the mother cat in the picture. But the ghost cat does not have the squinty eyes. Any thoughts?
While I’m still holding out hope for Freddie to have a “reunion” with Mouse (considering Freddie died before Mouse returned to the BPH), it is very sweet to see Mouse’s feline family seeing her All Grown Up. We know Angus was around when Mouse got back, but we don’t know about Lady Jane, and we don’t know how far Angus wandered post-life or how recently Mouse has been in the area of the BPH. And if they only had ANY IDEA how many little ones Mousie’s mentored over the years!
Also, I just love the look Angus is giving kitten Mouse in that last photo. “Of course she’s in the pumpkin. You do realize that’s sticky, tastes terrible, and cleaning it off may keep you near the litterbox for a while, young lady?” Plus the subtle confirmation that Mouse was all but officially one of Freddie’s Cats; I’d been wondering about that for a while.
I’m so glad we got to see Angus again this time around. I’m still waiting for him to report, “Not quite live…” That is such a great reporter intro. But I still need for Tillie to make an appearance. Perhaps she and Freddie are trying to steer the people back to where the kitties are sleeping.
I thought I was crying yesterday!! What a wonderful story this month. My heartstrings are just…Thank you, Georgia. I have to ask if you’re reading the comments; do you ever cry at your own story lines? I don’t know how you couldn’t, but the rest of us are, you must have to when you go back and read it again. I would.
Beatrixia: Ora and Iggy, you’re just in time for the Feast of Candy. Chef Thomios has prepared a spread in the Royal Dining Room.
Iggy: Great! Does he have cat-friendly chocolate?
Bea: Of course.
Ora: That’s good, because I’m a chocolate-friendly cat!
At the Royal Dining Room
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Royal Staff, I am delighted to welcome our two new friends, Ora Zedd and Ignatius Shipwright. Ora and Iggy.
Iggy: Thank you, Your Majesty. This is indeed an honor.
The Queen: And now, Iggy, would you do the honor of giving thanks to Cat for our bounty?
Iggy: I would love to. Gracious Cat, thank you for this great bounty of candy. May we be truly blessed by it. And thank you for these new friends. Amen.
Lupinium: Now it is time for the opening Thwump. Ora, would you like to join me?
I need a bigger spot for my #1 all time favorite BCN arcs. Right now I’ve got half a dozen tied for #1. First Christmas Special, First Halloween special, Beatrix out in the void, The Golden Mouse, Puck stuck in the trunk, Baba as a young reporter, and now this one is crowding itself to the front of the line!
In my wildest imagination, I could never have foreseen how badly I needed to see a ghost cat meatloafing. Ahhhh… thank you Georgia! [wipes a tear] Stupid blurry monitor making my eyes water.
This one is definitely being saved to my GoComics faves! Awesome! Happy Halloween and Dio De Muertos to all in the BCN community! Lady Jane is suddenly one of faves along with the venerable Angus. Such an amazing arc, simply fabulous Georgia!
I’d like to share a true ghost story, with the Orb. In September of 2009, I had to let my 14 year old 75lb Shep/Lab mix, Scooby, go. She was a sweet friend to all kids and cats, but also a great guard dog. It had been nearly 2 weeks since I’d lost her, when I felt brave enough to take her kennel bed down and start putting her toys, away. As I was taking the carrier apart, an orb of yellow light, floated out of the carrier and it never got higher than my departed dog’s head! I knew it was my Scooby, so I gently spoke to her. ’ It’s ok Scooby, you’re a good girl…I’ll be ok…you can go now.’ She was very smart dog, so I knew she understood, because the light orb slowly began to rise up toward the window. It drifted into the rays of sunlight and disappeared. Don’t know how long I cried, after that, but i felt better knowing, she had crossed over. Three days later, my niece brings me a cute little grey striped and white, kitten, who was about a month old. My girl, Tigger is now 13. When Tigger was a kitten, she would often play in that same corner where Scooby’s carrier sat. I’d like to think that Scooby had come back, to play with her.
SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC: I’m trying to explain to Smudge and the Marshmallow Mouse why it is not a good idea for a black kitty and a tuxedo kitty to have outies today. They are not impressed and are very vocal in expressing their annoyance. I may need headache pills by the time they give up and go to sleep.
I did not know Mouse knew Lady Jane too. I think we need more flashbacks! I love her in the pumpkin and the continuing theme of generations in the Big Pink House.
OT-ish: With all the focus lately on Baba Mouse, it reminds me of the cat genealogy strip we had two years ago (https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2020/06/28?ct=v&cti=1923582). At the time, Georgia posted pictures of the real cats that strip mentioned. Does anyone know if those pictures included Mouse or where to find them again?
Yesterday’s and today’s. Georgia, I almost never read BCN on Sunday, just so I can start the week off right. Then I get hit with these two. So sweet and so touching. Will the book featuring these overlapping arcs be Moments with Mouse or Angus Lights the Way? And I’ve been reading Zenna Henderson, whose stories often do to me what BCN’s Hallowe’en specials do.Yikes.
O.T. – help request. I’m going to have to go to FL to help my cousin Floyd through his cancer treatments. The person we were relying on won’t be able to take him as often as we hoped and he’s going to need help at home as well. I’ve set up a go fund me that goes into more detail. I HATE to ask, but if you could spare a dollar or two I would be very grateful. The gofundme link is https://gofund.me/83ec719a or I have PayPal paypal.me/INDIANALUPIN
I apologize in advance if this request bothers anyone, but I don’t have a lot of options or time. Thank you.
