An interesting week, indeed! But maybe not as interesting as that Halloween when the BCN crew got dressed up as a fast food? Seeing wise and sensible cats masquerading as a Happy Meal would confound any young and impressionable kitten …

Quiet, restful, no stress on Thanksgiving. Wish all of the BCN commenters were able to have a wonderful day as well.

Sounds like a cat’s dream environment, as long as they get in on that “turkey and napping”!

I’m still feeling chuffed! Today I hosted my very first holiday meal. (I’m 73.) Crockpotted turkey breast with little potatoes, carrots, green things, and homemade cranberry space goo—I had no idea it was so easy to make—with made-from-a-mix GF cornbread and boughten GF pies. We never even made it to the pies. My friends had to leave early to get home before dark but it was a great day, with lots of good food (buffs fingernails on sleeve) and good conversation.

Panel 2 – I’m not sure if Ora is confused, or sad that nobody’s awake enough to play with her.

I’m thankful that we could read BCN on Arcamax, and I’m very grateful to the instigators of the Orbster Mailing List for providing that information! I haven’t said anything because it’s been total insanity here, long story but it’s renovations and I had to pull all my furniture out from the wall for electrical outlet work. Now I gotta put it all back. Foxy thinks I’ve lost my marbles and I’m the nearest thing to it. Happy Thanksgiving to all including Shaunnmunn and others long away. Also Absent Friends. Peace, Love, and Cranberry Space Goo.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Thomios: Who will volunteer for cleanup before the After-feast nap?

Ora Z: I’ll gather up the dishes in no time flat.

Beatrixia: I’ll go to the closet and get out the mats.

Puckmosis: I’ll wrap up the leftovers fast as can be.

Elvis-Anum: And I’ll put the dishes away with dignity.

Lupinium: Iggy and I will dust and we’ll sweep.

Floofnet: Then we’ll be ready for the after-feast sleep!

Everything went well yesterday, but I am feeling the effects today (stiff, soar, and incredibly tired). It was a good Thanksgiving at Casa de Hamilton.

My Thanksgiving went well. It was actually two days. Wednesday I coordinated a Thanksgiving dinner at my VFW. I made the gravy and got the meal put out, served and help clean up. Thursday, I volunteered at an American Legion (for about the 9th or 10th year in a row). I helped serve and helped clean up. All in all a pretty good Thanksgiving. Have lots of leftovers from both places so I can make some of my favorite Thanksgiving leftovers.

Yesterday was young Bartholomew’s first Thanksgiving. He was very interested in all the food, so we were constantly keeping an eye on him while cooking and setting out the dishes. Until I let my guard down during the meal. I heard some foil crinkling in the kitchen and then before I knew it, Bartholomew had a biscuit in his mouth and was headed away. I kicked off my heels and gave chase. He ran up the stairs and down the hall. He paused for a second on the stairs up to the bedroom to toss the biscuit at me, then continued up and peered out at me from around the corner of the bookcase with a worried look. I retrieved the biscuit and left him to think upon the error of his ways.

Our guests were a friend and his two daughters (8 and 10). They don’t have cats and they were fascinated by Bartholomew. He let them play with him and pet him and even pick him up. He clearly wasn’t thrilled, but he didn’t bite (he often play-bites us, although we’re working on it) or swipe or even yowl. He got quite a bit of turkey later for being such a good boy with them.

Oh, the details! Ora Zella’s raised paw in panel one; her puzzled eyebrows in the rest (one raised, the other scrunched down) and equally puzzled postures; shy Iggy peeking over the couch; Puck’s gentle paw on Ora Zella’s shoulder as he says “You’ve joined us on an interesting week…”; the Woman’s knuckles and both the Man and the Woman’s rings… [Happy sigh as I take everything in.]

Definitely a strange week to join, with cranberry space goo yesterday and the Las Vegas fir not far behind. At least she missed out on the invasions of giant animals and Broadway performers.https://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/delicious-smells-are-coming-in-from-the-kitchen/

We had a nice Thanksgiving. Dad cooked everything: turkey, stuffing, roasted yams, cranberry space goo, and pumpkin pie from scratch. Yum! The kitties had plenty of turkey. Monroe acted as if he hunted down the bird himself. We all napped afterward. Monroe took turns sleeping on all of us. He likes to sniff everyone’s mouth as if to see if he wants what we ate.

    O.T. – Cindy Lou

Now that we’ve gotten through Thanksgiving, can I please be a broken record (I know the younger folks won’t get that reference) and ask again for prayers and healing vibes for my Cindy. A week after her antibiotic and steroid shots (with a repeat steroid shot halfway through the week), her balance problem had not improved much. I ran up to the vet clinic Wednesday before their early closing and picked up a stronger, oral antibiotic for her. They still feel that the problem is a bad inner ear infection, and I know the medicine takes time to start working (today will be her third dose) but I’m very worried about Cindy. She is not eating much, and throwing up (from my own experience, I know the antibiotic, on a mostly empty tummy, is likely causing her to be nauseous). I can’t give her insulin because she’s not eating enough. Her age (estimated to be about 13), arthritis, and diabetes are not making things any easier for her. Poor little Cindy Lou Who (and her frazzled Mama) could really use the Power of the Orb right now, so if you can spare a minute for her, we would both appreciate it so much—many thanks in advance!

Happy Gotcha Day, Gandalf! It was 6 years ago today when my neighbor and I shanghaied you out of the back yard (after spending 4 months luring you into the back yard for potential “entrapment”). And another 2 years before you would allow the Food Lady close enough to pet you, even with gushyfud involved, and another year before you decided it was OK to sleep in a kitty-pile with the Food Lady. Now you’re a regular lap kitty . . . for the Food Lady and only the Food Lady . . . random strangers must be hidden from. But that’s OK, seriously! You’re a great big WARM lap cat for watching mysteries with.

Has anyone noticed that the Sunday strips in Pucky, Prince of Bacon, are printed on a colored background page? Very handy for finding the Sunday strips!

Reminds me of adolescent Wilamena the Radio Cat, a half-Siamese agouti tabby, who was given to me because she was too lively for a household with a much older cat. Her first weekend with us was a Thanksgiving. She traveled hundreds of miles by car with our three other cats. By the time we returned home, she was an integral member of the household and generally in charge of all things cat.

In the following years she became my Muse and partner on my radio comedy spots (she always meowed on cue). She had a way of looking at me, like I was about to do something wonderful, and I felt obligated. :)
