I accidentally tried to open the wrong car a couple of days ago. In all my seven decades I never thought someone would shoot me for that. I guess I was lucky. I miss my First World problems.
There’s a fellow around here who stands at the intersection of two major roads (small town, but a lot of traffic there) with a sign that just says “Peace”. Some people honk as they pass him, whether in support or derision I couldn’t say.
I don’t know if he’s ever bonked a pedestrian with his sign.
The Bible states that there will always be wars and rumors of war. And it has been 100% correct in that statement. There are wars we aren’t even aware of in the world. So, essentially, I agree with the guy. Wanting World Peace is a nice sentiment, but it will never happen.
In the book, “Snow Falling on Cedars,” the main character is told by his mother about his dad that, “No one loved humanity more than your father, he just didn’t like people very well.”
Reminds me of the Li’l Abner character who liked to promote peace in his own way, Smilin’ Zack: "Cadaverous, outwardly peaceable mountaineer with a menacing grin and an even more menacing shotgun. He preferred things “quiet.” (Real quiet, that is — not breathing or anything.)"

Violence is the essence of the recent peaceful protests. What’s a peaceful protest without a little arson, looting and mayhem?

Peace by violence. Sounds like something out of George Orwell’s novel “1984,” but then again, we’ve been living in that world for years.
