Am I the only one that sees today’s mole as Wilfred Brimley Mole? Just waiting for him to respond to Goldie with a long monologue for a Quaker Oats commercial. Just from him say “why?”.
It took multiple readings before I realized the mole in the first panel is not the mole with the mustache. BTW, I love how his arms are crossed in the last panel. That must have taken some careful maneuvering with those long claws!

Oh, there’s some malarkey going on here, that’s for sure.

Now THAT is one Mole of a Mustache! And at least Molestache isn’t attacking them, yet.

Why am I not surprised that the moles are “blindly” following their leader wherever he may go?

If we follow their logic, then wouldn’t a colony of ants live under ant-archy?

Goldy finally got a response from a mole.

According to Girl Genius, it’s moligarchy.

At the molecular level, they have to know they shouldn’t be following a mole-arch.

Very good viewpoint question, Goldie. You’re getting to the bottom of the moles’ motivations. (ミゝᆽ・ミ)

Has anyone read C. S. Lewis’ Voyage of the Dawn Treader? The moles sound quite a bit like the dufflepuds.

From the Musical Oliver!: I’d Do Anything
Wilford Mole: We’d do anything
For our king, anything,
For Montague means everything
To “We!”
I know that
We’d do anything
He commands, anything,
He demands everything,
You see!
Beatrix: Would you tunnel for miles?
Wilford: Anything!
Tommy: See that no one smiles?
Wilford: Anything!
Beatrix: Get Queen Mags all riled?
Wilford: If Montague ordered.
Wilford: Yes we’d do anything
He ordered, anything
Because he is our king
Anything we’d do!

I love Mr Mole’s purple checkered shirt! In fact, with the mustache, he’s very handsome in a down-to-earth way.

At the Ceiling Can Be a Floor Culinary School
Thomios: I think we’ve created some wonderful new recipes, Uncle Floof. I can’t wait to try them out at the palace.
Floofnet the Joyous: What I’d really like to do is replicate some ancient recipes that were lost when the Library at Meowlaxendria was destroyed.
Thomios: Yeah, that was a shame. At least we now know it wasn’t due to the culinary staff’s carelessness.
Floof: There’s a rumour (spoken in a British accent) that the recipe scrolls were housed in a different place from the other scrolls.
Thomios: Maybe we’ll find them some day. I know with our kitt, uh small cats, a lot of exploring will be done.
Floof: I would love to find some of the heirloom foods and spi, well, you know what.
Thomios: Maybe some day.

Why would the moles do such a thing!?!
Oh, yeah, their king is named Montague
Well, enough said, then.

Moles are out on the road
Feeling loyal, and so bold
All King has to do is call their names
And they’ll be there, being huge pains
Where he leads, they will follow
Anywhere that he tells them to
If cats need, need to know what caused the coup
Moles will follow where he leads

I can see Goldie’s questioning leading her up the line to Montague. Tommy looks anxious in the second panel.
