It’s always worth it to eat ‘shrooms… for me. I like ’em in soups, stews, pizza, sandwiches, enchiladas and quesadillas, added to steamed or boiled veggies, sizzled and served over meat or over toast… and thin sliced into salads. So far, I’m still (nominally) human… but I’m willing to push the limits to see what happens!

Must have played the game. Andy undoubtedly isn’t letting him watch the show.

Looks like he was having fungus.

Someone apparently grew cortyceps on their own skin and blood cells. WHY WOULD YOU EVER DO THAT?!

He’s hoping to turn into a real fungi.

Jason, you….(sigh) ok, how is it that you know your video games, but you don’t know The Last Of Us lore? So incredibly smart, yet so incredibly stupid, this boy. Love him, but….gah!

You need the fungi from “Matango”. Or from the original short story “The Voice in the Night” by William Hope Hodgson. (Highly recommended for Halloween!) If you want to go more obscure, there’s “The Fungus” by Harry Adam Knight (pen name of John Brosnan & Roy Kettle) which had a recent reprint. >

Try smokin’ ‘em…you’ll see some new tastes.

Dig a little deeper into the mushroom family, Jason. You’ll have much better success with ring worm & athletes’ foot.

The trick to cooking mushrooms well is to dry fry them with a touch of salt, covered for the first minute or two, then uncovered until the liquid dries up. Then brown them with a light dusting of thyme. Finally, stir in a bit of oil or butter, and use them however you want.

They sell supplements made of cortyceps, the same fungus responsible for the monsters in The Last of Us. Maybe Jason could try some of those. Like he said, it’s worth a shot.

Jason Fox is a method actor when it comes to Halloween costumes. Andy is just grateful he’s something that qualifies as a vegetable.

He may have to settle for becoming a Matango aka “Attack of the Mushroom People,” a 1963 film from Japan. Inspired by a William Hope Hodgson short story The Voice in the Night.

My dad likes neither mushrooms nor eggs. Therefore, people often tease him about eating mushroom omelettes.

You gotta go find the wild ’shrooms . . . outside . . . in the woods (or lawn).

Look for the ones that look just like the ones in Mario Brothers video games. Red with white spots all over the top.

Those will definately turn you into a fungus monster – or make you think you did, anyway!
