The only thing that makes a crocheter crazy is asking what they are knitting.

I don’t knit, I crochet, so there is no reason why my husband should make this mistake but he does. He also calls my skirt a dress. I never wear dresses since there is no versatility with them like there is with skirts but he still gets it wrong! Sometimes I wonder if this stuff is just another incidence of passive aggression.

How about Opal lovingly answers the question that she knows is being asked, rather than just respond pedantically and most unhelpfully? Earl is showing interest, and Opal is teaching him to just stay away. OK, maybe I answered my own question there…

I’ve never been a big fan of Opal. She seems naggy and shrewing more often than not. She doesn’t treat Earl particularly well and is condescending to him on numerous occasions.

Maybe he should just stick to neutral territory and ask “What are you making?”. But believe it or not, there are kits to incorporate both into one project.

Opal, news flash, men really don’t care if it is knitting or crocheting, they are just trying to be polite, so you might try to do the same in return.

This conversation is the one I have with my husband over and over. He’s a cowboy. To me, all events are rodeo. He gets annoyed when I refer to cutting, roping, penning, all individual shows and events, anything to do with horses, as just a rodeo. Me: do you have a rodeo this weekend? Him: No. I’ve told you a hundred times, I have team penning. Me: whatever.

I answer that question all the time. I crochet. But most of the time I know they are just interested and really didn’t/don’t notice the difference in tools. Lately mine have been a compliment on the color of the item I am crocheting.

Before I did either one, I used to remember the difference this way: the one with two needles has two Ts in it — double needles for double letters. There are no double letters in crochet.
