Now that’s the kind of book-checking that we need.

They hired Rat because they know that if there’s nothing offensive, it won’t sell.

Bland is offensive too. Grow a Spine already!

I am often offended by the lack of proofreading in published books. Where are the proofreaders? I’m talking homophones that make no sense, or subject/verb agreement errors an elementary school aged child wouldn’t make.

Rat works 80 hour work weeks in 2023.

In 2003 this job didn’t even exist.

If it offends you,

don’t read it.

And get some help.

You need it.

The “offended” today are looking for attention!

That sounds like an easy job. Just get a stamp that says “Offensive”, and stamp every book with it. I doubt that there’s a book anywhere that doesn’t offend somebody.

Banned books are always the best.

It’s 2023. It’s pretty much a given that no matter what is said or written, someone will take offense at it.

These days, you can offend someone by saying, “It looks like a nice day today.”

It’s pathetic, really.

Mark Meadows’ publishers are suing him for a million dollars because his “factual” book is full of lies that he refuted in a court of law. Well, DUH . . .

Where is that “Censor” character when you need him?

Offensive to anyone except those offended by sloppy usage or spelling. People like that deserve no consideration whatsoever. Hence the mass layoffs of copy editors.

He’s got a point. Bland books make people want to read a lot less. If you think the level of public discourse is low now, wait till we’re all semi-literate ignorami.

Rat made an excellent editorial decision. The best reason for censoring a book is because it’s so boring it just plain sucks.

I’m sensitive to literary blandness too.

I hate to get all logical here, but if a book is offensive to someone, they shouldn’t read it. Ditto boring. Just move on. Someone else might like it and should not be deprived of the option to find out.

It will be required reading in Florida and Texas. And the sole approved work for PhD theses in all majors.

Rat and Sensitivity do not belong in the same sentence—or in the same universe, for that matter!

All this reminds me of when we were kids. One joke we found hilarious:“Want to hear a dirty joke?”……“OK”….“A Pig fell in the mud”
