You gots only two panel a day and you is waste it to drag this even further? Why not you ge to explain motives and about her network of accomplices and how she gots away so far and all that already?
They’ve never had an opportunity to create anything worthwhile, so all they can do is make futile attempts to tear down their betters in a cry for attention.
So, she loved rare books, to the point where she would murder to get them, even though she lived in a gigantic mansion and appears to have the wherewithal to just, you know, buy rare books from their owners… Did she just get a letter one day, “Congratulations! You’ve been chosen to be a ‘Dick Tracy Villain!’ You have two hours to come up with a scheme that will confound ol’ Dick for months! Good luck and try not to die!”
Although I don’t want this prolonged, I do hope that there is some justice served for some of her accomplices, like the girl at the gym that warned her, and the snarky guy at the book binding place…though I imagine that guy seeing this on the news is already singing like a canary to the DA: “She threatened to slice me up like deli meats…”
Arrogance……Mmm, mmm, MMMM……..he’s probably still steaming about the way she looked at him back when they first met: “The detective?”(oh, joy, rapture, another gumshoe……)…….
Ah! So that’s how she ‘dies’! ‘She’ was actually Mr. Mind, the Big Red Cheese’s arch for, lurking inside an inflatable woman suit. Presumably he crawls out though a rent in it and will return tomorrow in some other diabolical disguise and…
Wait! I HAVE it!
He dons a BOW TIE suit that, after he slips it into Sam’s squalid apartment and Sam dons it, allows hm to control the Samster’s mind! (Hmm. Good idea for a villain for the funny animal version of TRACY: Samster the Hamster! — a smarmy little crud who gnaws through bank walls in the wee hours)
Anyway. after many harrowing incidents, he’s tripped up when: A) the MCU coffee gets very GOOD.
and…
B) The evidence room is suddenly overflowing with un-filched items.
1- The driveway at Libris’ house fills up as word of the impromptu “Crime Solved Party” gets out…
2-DT: I cracked this case like Xaviere’s head when it smacked the floor. Speaking of heads, Owen, you should get a hat that fits yours. Speaking of hats, Owen, I need a new one. Speaking of “owen”, Owen, don’t you be owin’ me money from where you took the “innocent” side of the “Xavi is guilty/innocent” bet?
OWEN: Uhhh…how about we go double or nothing on that?
DISPATCH: IS ANYONE AVAILABLE TO RESPOND TO A “SHOTS FIRED CALL”? ANYONE? HELLO????
If there’s more to this tomorrow, I like to think of it as Tracy & Sam dictating their “paperwork” into Diet Smith’s new computer. How often do we see Tracy & Sam actually*DO* paperwork?
I do not know. But I suspect Owen’s evaluation is closer to the truth than Tracy’s, since Xaviera’s very real arrogance can be viewed as a diagnostic symptom of her madness.
Apparently (from what Eric said yesterday), the remainder of this week will be wrap-up and tying off loose threads, so that the next New Story should begin on next Sunday….

Is that supposed to be her body on the gurney? She must have really flattened out.
How long will the wrap-up be, two weeks???

Good morning™, everyone!
So Tracy figures she was just “arrogant”? I suppose she felt that she could do whatever she wanted and wouldn’t ever be caught.

Sorry Sheldroids, very pedestrian work today by the grand Poobah!

Good morning™, child size body bags !
Her ego deflated when she died hence the small bag. Will Owen go home and drown his sorrows in absinthe ?

I’m thinking the reason that gurny is so flat is that they are still on their way to collect her body. That’s the only reason I can think of
jonahhex1 about 1 year ago
I must disagree with Tracy….it was mostly madness, the arrogance was just a minor character flaw of an insane killer.

Shades of the end of King Kong, both in the fall and the epitaph (Madness? No, it was arrogance that killed the beast!).

“Pride comes before a fall”. Seems appropriate here…..

Pitiful, really.

No, I’m pretty sure what brought her here was a combination of poor choices in footwear, gravity, and the OSCA railing system.

Where is the case she had and what was in it? Did EMS tend to Tracy’s wrist? Would be a stretch to buy into “the glancing blow” theory.
