Interesting reminder… After a decade or so, I decided Facebook was mostly a waste of time, so I set a time limit of 5 minutes/day. Last few years went fine—until someone decided to assassinate me to celebrate the election in 2022. Facebook wouldn’t say what hideous crime I was accused of, but after two years without Facebook I almost feel like thanking my murderer.
The last time I put my phone down to stop using the Internet was when I had a dial-up connection. I can’t imagine using such a little screen for social media, and having to type posts on such a tiny keyboard. I use my desktop computer with a 21" screen for everything Internet related.
I have a flip phone, so get on the internet and look at the comics on my iPad. I don’t do Facebook and never plan to. It is getting a bit annoying that businesses take it for granted that I have a smartphone. Texting on my flip phone is tedious.
Not for me, I’m too old school I guess. Fuddy-Duddy comes to mind, but I careth not. I use messaging. I use Facebook Marketplace to buy and sell. Ditto for craigslist and ebay. My social media consists of gocomics and the fine folks I meet there.
comics, sports, and weather is pretty much it fer me… (well, there are the youtube videos… startalk with Neil Degrasse Tyson, primarily, and then all sorts of music, and movies, older ones primarily, and….. hmm… this is getting longer, isn’t it…….!!)
lifelong mobile-less (gasp), but doing doing pretty well anyways, trusty desktop’s bookmarks bring favorite comics up every monring with just a single click. but the day my apple croaks, maaan, can’t imagine how i’ll survive.
I want to invent asocial media. It would be like social media but for introverts. People log on but nobody says anything. Occasionally, someone may post a picture of a cat.
several acquaintances don’t understand why i leave my cell phone on my desk all the time. it’s like theirs have to be glued to their butts or something.

Sometimes I get 20 minutes for the week. Most of it is looking at my shopping list.

I know when to put the phone down because that’s when it’s time to wipe my butt and get off the toilet

Only 15 minutes? Seems short, but I’m not gonna question it.

I just use it to read articles and look at pictures of celebrities. I don’t really use it to stay in touch.

I just stay off altogether. Between AI and everybody and their brother out there trying to make a buck, I’m done.

If someone stops you and asks for change
He’s only one of many
But if an old Italian stops you, ignore him
It’s only Guiliani
