From Lynn’s Comments: The best part of this strip, in my humble opinion is the invention of the word “FLADDAP.” It rivals “Ka-FLOOMPA- GUSH” (a toilet plunger) for made-up sound effects.
Christmas cards always remind me of my step-grandfather, Pepere Adrien. My Memere’s 3rd husband, he married her after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. He sent cards for all occasions to her children, their children, THEIR children, and respective spouses. He was the only “true” grandfather I had (1st died a week before my 1st birthday; 2nd when I was about 9) and he lived up to the title. I loved him so much; when he died I cried as much as if he had been my biological grandfather. My younger daughter’s middle name is Adrienne in his honor.
I had an aunt who used to say "If you have a lot of friends, you’re rich.) She turned out to be right, as I found out later on that money isn’t everything in life. (I know it helps, though)
It can be a barometer but as we get older there are fewer and fewer and with the invention of e-cards, new generations won’t ever know the feeling of a real Christmas Card or the writing of a letter…..

I love getting Christmas cards.

A 4-year old is more aware of the true meaning of Christmas than her mother! Elly ought to really be ashamed of herself.

Looks like April just watched It’s A Wonderful Life.

“No man is a failure who has friends”, as Clarance wrote to George Bailey. I’ve seen that movie about 20 times, and I still cry at the end.

There was no joy in Canada that year, though as no cards would be delivered

FLADDAP! Letter slot flap and mail falling through. I heard it while reading it. The pooches’ face is icing.

Interesting the Pattersons got mail since the Canadian postal service is still on strike the last I heard.

One of my grandmothers tended to keep Christmas cards. I looked in her attic once and saw some back to the 1930s.

It’s amazing how a small child can put stuff in perspective. You’re absolutely right, April, your family is very rich.

Unfortunately a friend of 45 years has unfriended me over politics. Guess she wasn’t a true friend! :-(

I assume she once got a birthday card with money in it and made a reazonable assumption.
Moonkey Premium Member 3 days ago
I guess she would have preferred a load of bills instead of holiday cards that someone took the time to send. I did mine yesterday.

Not many people mail out Christmas cards these days. I haven’t sent a Christmas card for years and we only receive 3 or 4 every year.

There’s a killer on the road
Her head’s about to shoot a load
Make that gate lock stay
Don’t let your children play
If John kept up his fly
Farley would still be alive
Killer on the road

Weird. You’d think she want to open them up and see who they’re from. Looks like Ellie doesn’t really care about hearing from friends.

Not going to get Christmas cards in Canada because of Canada Post is on strike. C’est la vie.
