I GET why Tictok is banned now. I watched Smerconish today and it is less about spying and more about false news. trump even admits that Tictoc was a major factor in his duping Americans. That is why he is now in love with the app which he once hated!
Another interesting book on the topic is “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. But I think it may already be too late. The Fermi Paradox looks more and more bleak…
A person could easily fall into the social media black hole of untruths and opinions, I limit my interactions to music I like and old friend’s conversation!
Of course, it couldn’t be the “real” media or the oppressive government making people angry or divided. Just consume and listen to us and all will be peaceful.
I saw an article about the disruptor impact of the printing press. It wasn’t printing the Bible (which was important) but that one of the most popular books was about how to find witches. (“300-year terror: How the printing press fueled witch hunts, misinformation in Europe.”) So…here we are 300 years later.
Quasimodo, the quarterback of Notre Dame, predicted all of this. Or was it the baseball player, Yogi Bear? Or was it Baba Ganoush? I can’t remember. Never mind.
So true. It’s called a .“strong take”. And it pervades more than social media. We are over stimulated. And this has had major effects on all aspects of society. As I like to say. Too Much Information!!

But on GoComics, your posts can be deleted just because somebody doesn’t like your opinion and flags your post.

How does avoiding social media fix social media? If he stops using social media, the problems he complains about will still exist.

Same as 80s TV, 90s radio … back to Tanakh, Bible and Koran. I’m sensing a pattern here.

Mastodon is social media and has no algorithm to speak of, just a chronological feed. You get what you follow.

My online guilty pleasure is car crash videos. I’m not sure, but I think this makes me a bad person.

My FB “Reels” shove road rage and brake-checking dash cam vids in my face. I skip over them now.

Don’t blame social media. The bible tells us the human heart is the most deceitful and wicked thing. (Jeremiah 17:9). There is no cure but Jesus.

Those who most need to read the book won’t put their phones down long enough to do so.
I’m going to look for this at my library.

It’s time it was re-titled ‘Anti-social Media’.
