Hahaha… so cute!

Edgar is smart!

Is this something kids do these days? In my day, we took the sleds to a hill with snow on it and would ride the sled down the hill. There was none of this dragging the sled by a rope with a dog on the sled. The dog’s job was to chase you down the hill while you were sledding.

Way more fun to be pulled than to pull.

Why doncha find a nice hill where you can all slide down together?? I’d love to see a picture of that!

Edgar’s no fool.

Made a harness for my pictured dog, she loved pulling the sled around and giving rides to the neighbourhood kids. She was very popular. Great memories.

Used to drag my sled a tenth of a mile across the park to the golf course that had a ‘perfect hill’ about a third of the fairway along a street and would be joined there by kids from all over town—slid down, then ‘trudge’ back up and do it all over again then the ‘country club’ closed that hill to sledding. Luckily for me, by that time, ‘the thrill was gone’ ! ! ! !

LOL! That is totally backward!

I’ve tried that before… It doesn’t work.

Not gonna happen.

For the love of Dog!

Some comments just ruin the pleasure of the moment.

Yep, we sledded down hills and along the sidewalk and even the street. We had lots more snow when I was a kid.

Panel Two was their first mistake. Lizz should have started out pulling April then roped Edgar to the toboggan.

My sisters would sit on the toboggan and the dog was tied to the front to pull. My brother would run and the dog would chase him pulling sisters on the toboggan. They would switch off, except for one sister. A 4 yr old can’t run far and fast.

At our local college, there was a great sledding area called “Three Hills”. It was loads of fun until campus security chased us off for making too much noise.

Well friends, here’s the Southcoast Weather for today…

Weathermen got themselves into a frenzy, over an incoming storm. We got an inch of slush. Bit of a disappointment.

A nice thing about slush, is that it doesn’t drift. Down side is that it gets your sneakers all wet.

News reports that the Orange Dugong has gone to Satan’s breeding ground, FLA, leaving musk in charge of all things, legal and otherwise. Fine with me, at least when he’s cheating at golf, he leaves the country alone.

Edgar would have no trouble pulling April but Elizabeth is nearly full grown so adding in her weight makes it way too heavy for just Edgar to pull!!

OK, we waited a day. Where are Weeder, Michael and the landlady?

Too bad this strip was never animated. There could be a show like this:

Elizabeth: Come on Edgar, dogs in the Arctic do not like prima donna lives, they are workers!

Edgar has fun being pulled, then goes inside to eat pizza and milkshakes

Elizabeth: And another fact; Arctic dogs get fed once a day. Most of their meals consist of fish or raw mear.

Edgar blanches and thinks ‘sucks to be them’

Elizabeth: You know what your problem is Edgar, you are overly civilized!

Edgar goes to sleep on his doghouse. He suddenly wakes up in Nunavut. A sledger grabs Edgar, puts a harness on him and he is conscripted to join a team of sled dogs

I just heard Yukon Cornelius yelling, “Mush! I said mush! Aw, nuts.”

We did similar with our ponies but no sled, just anything that would slide and the ponies were ever so slightly more agreeable ( which made for adventurous rides :D). We did progress to actual skis and then snowboards and horses instead of ponies. Good times, still : )

Edgar has those kids trained. And they say dogs are dumb…

Call the police. In the last panel two Asian kids stole Edgar and the sled!

Yeah, that’s about what I would expect.

Gone are the days when it snowed for days or weeks. These days it’s here one day and goon the next.

lived on a slight incline when I was younger and there was a school across the street, you started down the hill, steered into the parking lot and onto the grass … you still had lawn until you ran into into the shrubs on the other side of the school a block away. ah childhood fun

I wonder why the original 2/18/1996 version of this strip is missing from the gocomics archives?
