Just put the tax rates back to President Clinton’s level will be a good start. Unless you want to help the poor defenseless billionaires from paying more.
More than I have in my change jar, too. And if you think Biden is crazy, just wait until Trump unleashes his brand of insanity and stupidity on the world.
The #1 goal for the incoming regime is for multi-billionaires to become trillionaires and with no guardrails, accountability or giving a hoot for how they attain that goal or how many lives they destroy in the process.
In spite of what you might have been led to believe, the last president to reduce the national debt over the entire course of his administration was Warren G. Harding. Reagan, Bush and Clinton all gave it a good try, but only succeeded temporarily before circumstances caused them to raise the debt.
The United States of America spent more money fighting WW2 than all the other allies and enemies added together. Great Britain and France came out broke. Germany and Japan were broke. The Soviet Union was broke. China was broke. The U.S. came out as the richest nation. How? We didn’t sell anyone anything. We took years to collect those small loans we have out. The colonies we liberated did not become ours, we only built military bases in them. We didn’t pillage, or seize other county’s treasuries. So, how did the U.S. get so wealthy? There was a scene in the movie ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ at the end where the crated Ark was being moved to a huge warehouse housing all sorts of supposed treasures. It was just a movie. Congress acts as though those assets are real.
Just a reminder of what some of that money went for. 211 years ago today (January 7) American troops under General Andrew Jackson routed the British at the Battle of New Orleans, the final encounter of the War of 1812. There has not been a hostile foreign boot on American soil since. How many other countries in the world can say the same?
I worry this strip validates the thinking that we should apply microeconomic principles in the realm of macroeconomics. The prevalence of that attitude has harmed us mightily.
The thing is: the national deficit is something we could easily just not care about anymore, but that would take away the leverage that Democrats have ceded to republicans over the debt ceiling.
Trump wants to buy Greenland, annex Canada, take the Panama canal away from Panama and change the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America and you think Joe is crazy?
Just 12 days and 10 hours until government as we know it comes to an end—though the end started on September 18, 1947. I predict there will be no more elections and it will be Rule by Corporation.

I dread these strips now. I really do.
We are now officially living in The Twi-light Zone.
I mean, who in their right mind holds a child to their face at a podium just days after a failed assassination attempt?
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg…
