I love jams and jellies, mostly preserves though I can’t find them much anymore. Good to have a great variety of flavors.

I remember the first time I had anything sweet on bread that wasn’t syrup or grape jelly: My aunt’s homemade apple butter. It was legit life-changing.

You can also make spicy jellies, and vegetable jellies. It’s a whole wonderful world!

All we could usually afford was grape jelly growing up. It was the cheapest kind in the store. I hate it to this day. Strawberry jam was a rare treat.

Try some cactus jelly sometime! It’s made from prickly pear cacti. Excellent southwestern food!

Jelly is made only from fruit juice. If you want the actual fruit, get jam or preserves. Even better, get fruit spread which has less sugar (to be called jam requires 50% sugar).

I think I also only knew about grape jelly when I was a kid. It’s still the only right kind for PBJs.

There was a line in the book “Blue Highways”, as he travelled around the US eating mostly in diners. Something like “When there are 50 kinds of jelly out there, why is it always grape?”

Me, I was a little bit surprised when I learned that jelly spread can be made of other fruits/berries than strawberry.

So really noticing the kerning of the letter Y in today’s Crabgrass dialog. Judging by the equally repeated excessive space between it and the letter it follows, it appears Tauhid has a custom font for this strip (versus hand-lettering).

Man, the last time I had grape jelly was 40 years ago. I love a French jelly that is cherry, blackberry, raspberry and strawberry. You might have seen it in stores—had a gingham print style lid. . .
