I love literal jokes. Somewhat literally.

Local legend (untrue) was that the town of Half Day, IL, was named that because it was a half-day’s distance from Chicago by horse and carriage.

Getting hard to find much funny about this strip anymore .

when I first read this I assumed that he was actually half way home from where ever he was. An institution didn’t even cross my mind, which made frame #2 confusing at first.

The problem is there should be a space between “half” and “way” to mean he’s half way home, not halfway home.

Why the sudden interest in Pig’s dad? Have we ever seen him before? I can’t think of any appearances offhand.

Pig is an actor. He went to Yale, majored in drama with a minor in math. “Pearls” gives him a steady income and the ability to spend time with his family.

I find the Sunday pun strips to be the funniest, probably because the author has access to more panels, and can thus build up more before the punchline.

This would have almost worked, but the term is “Halfway House”. ;D

We haven’t seen Guard Duck, the Crocks or Snuffels the Cat for quite a while. Not even Jeff the Cyclist had been on Stephans panels to break a leg lately.
