Here we go AGAIN. Only this time, it’s Pru. Luann, you pulled this on Gunther thinking it’d help HIM find dates and you know how that went. Stop Pru, please, for OUR sakes. We don’t wish to see round two of this.

Look, Luann? I like Pru and all. But are you seriously going to take “dating tips” from a young woman that hasn’t had a “lover” herself since she was introduced in the Strip Years Ago?

Pru grabbed your phone. Fine. Tell her she SHOULD find a “lover” for HERSELF on that dating app.

One more thing, Ms. DeGroot. I’d rethink your notion towards Gunther, if I were you. And quit listening to the Negative Nellies on this forum, and evolve your “friendship” with him into something MORE…..,

It seems that Pru doesn’t have a life right now – and she’s looking for adventure via Luann. Pru is living in a rented room and likely not making much money. I would love to see Luann turn the tables and ask Pru – “what about you?” We are due to see Pru get interested in somebody. I think she was even a little excited with the attention she got from Les – but it’s not going there…

Luann does not seem worried about not being with someone, a far cry from today’s “Luann Again”.

Somebody as clueless as Pru(ne) is the person to guide Luann? Sometimes a grown up is not necessarily the person indicated to teach you something. Case in point.

Yet again the famous friend-land that most guys dread strikes again. And the terrible spiral of random wheel of romance takes her spin of blind dates into the unknown. Sounds like a late night episode of “The Twilight Zone”.

Oh, sure, hook up with a stranger on the internet for a meaningless fling, what could go wrong?

Why is Pru pushing Luann to get into a physical relationship with some guy she doesn’t really know? Doesn’t she have more important things to do, like maybe find a better job so she can move out of the DeGroot’s house?

But didn’t Pru tell Luann that she was spending too much time on her phone almost a month ago?

Here we go again – another rehash of the almost-desperate need to have these characters paired off. It is a deficiency to be unattached. It’s not okay to date around.

Oh, no. Pru can’t be going that route! And here I thought she was going to be a stabilizing influence. Of course she only asked what all of us have asked. “Where’s Luann’s love interest?”

It will probably go thusly: Luann will select someone from Date-Pic . A romance will ensue. She will be conflicted re Jack and Gunther. Maybe get jealous when one or both show interest in another. New-guy will eventually turn to cr@p. She will re-evaluate Jack and Gunther. One or the other may come to her emotional rescue.

A year will go by. She will do it all over yet again.

Pru has, statistically, more limited options than Luann and is also (unless she’s taking off-Fuse-hours college courses we don’t know about) in a position in which her offline social circle is also inherently far more limited. A dating app is ideal for Pru…from her perspective, yes, lover locator.

For Luann, though, it’s just going to be a major time sink with a high probability of locating dozens of people like Les* and his ilk, such as the jerk who wouldn’t let her enjoy the party she went to with Tara. Luann is in too good a real world position to need electronic assistance.

By now, at least one of Luann’s incoming messages is likely from Les himself, seeing as how he’s on that app…

should we be talking about a ‘lover’ to a 19 year old who still lives at home, as if it’s a missing element of her life she MUST have?

Some keep calling for a return of Quill. I’d hate to have to wade through strip after painful strip of hurt-feelings resolution, smarmy apologies and reconciliation. Yuck!!!

Pru; if you’re talking about a PHYSICAL relationship when talking about a “lover” for Luann, she hasn’t even had a semi serious relationship with any guy yet. Much less being ready for that step.

A true friend would ask “and are you ok with all the just friends?”, instead of snatching the phone.

Perhaps Luann will suggest that BOTH she and Pru try out the dating App and see if Hilarity Ensues. I’m betting some of these dates will be pretty funny. She DID say she liked the guys Gunther picked out for her. Plus he will be all mad and have a hissy fit when he finds out she didn’t delete her App after all. Thus, hilarity times two!

I will admit, the direction the arc took is disappointing. I get why Evans had to do it, but meh…

Luann will be 50 ,alone and still a flake.

I am liking that Pru (aka Sigmund Freud) now seems to be guiding Luann away from Gunther. (Mordy…. again, not because I am not a fan of Gunther…. but I would rather not have an indecisive Luann get guided by Pru into “testing the waters” so-to-speak and getting Gunther hurt if Luann were to then decide…. “Nah, Pru was not guiding me correctly.”)

While I really like Jack and Luann together… if Greg is also steering us away from that coupling as well…. I think there is a wealth of “hilarity ensues” options with Luann utilizing the dating app…. and I am looking forward to that progressing.

All those ‘F’ words earlier! … Will someone get the “Fickle Finger of Fate” award?! :)

For those of you Gentle “Folk” hoping for the return of Q-Ball, you’d do well to remember what he said to her when they broke up three years ago:

So if Lu goes back to him, she’ll be eating a considerable amount of CROW to do it. Not very “PC,” IMHO. Of course, We COULD be compelled to “forget” Mr. Perfect said that the way some “folks” feel compelled to “forget” the way Les acted in High School, while at the SAME time totally REMEMBERING that Gunther once called Tiffany “dumb” or something. You Know, the “selective memory” thing. But I digress.

Let’s face it. Pru has made a couple of poor decisions in the past, and Lu would do well NOT to Listen to her. One, for that abortive Drama Camp at the Fuse. And Two, for being taken IN by Ann Eiffel’s Con-Job. If she DOES talk Lu into going on this dating app, then it’s yet another in a growing list of BAD IDEAS. A Bad Idea made WORSE by the fact that you have at least two College Campuses FULL of “Eligibles,” that neither Luann, Gunther, or Bernice is taking any advantage of. Tiffany once told Gunther she couldn’t “attract” anyone at college. Looks like She’s not the ONLY one having “problems.” The town of Pitts has become a Bizzaro World where only older adults like Crook Ann and Tom and Fuddy-Duddies like Al and Irma have “fun.”

But there IS Bad News and Good News.

The Bad News is, that Gunther is “Friend Zoned.” (At least for the time being)

The GOOD News is, SO is Jack! ;)

Pru may just be the absolute least qualified person to advise Luann regarding potential lovers!

Just like yesterday, today’s Luann Againn has a relevant ‘toon that relates to this. She is lamenting her single status to her father, who tries to comfort her by telling her that some young women at age 15 don’t have boyfriends, either. And she tells him that ‘nuns don’t count’. I had been hoping that Luann had passed the ‘if I don’t have a guy my life is meaningless’ stage, but maybe this appearance of similar topics in both ‘toons is the artist’s way of letting us know that the ‘toon will soon end, because he’s about to pull a ‘Cathy’ and just marry Luann off to Gunther. After the main character in ‘Cathy’ married her longtime friend Irving and got married, she got pregnant. And? End of the ‘toon. Just aren’t a whole lot of successful and interesting ‘toons around about changing diapers, waking up at night to feed the baby, and listening to one’s husband lament how his work at his engineering firm will suffer because the baby won’t sleep through the night…

If you find a Good one, I can Steal him without taking any Risks …

Why is Pru pushing Luann to have a lover? There’s nothing wrong with having lots of friends. What lover does Pru have?

Luckily there is Pru. Luann now has just an abstract, ideal idea about ​​lover. She would never started looking for a real one, even if she miss have intimacy with someone.

I guess that will be the lesson for Luann (after multiple iterations). One can have some ‘pie in the sky’ idea of the perfect lover. But often it turns out to be the friend you know.

Lover shmuver, I don’t know where this is going, but all the definitions of lover that I read (its late so I did read other comments before I post mine, which is really an overall reply) probably don’t come anywhere near where this arc will go but again we see. Hilarity ensues!

Luann was SO much more interesting when she was dating someone, namely Quill. She spent the first decade of so (our time) trying to talk to Aaron Hill, and THAT went nowhere. Now that she and Quill have broken up, she is doing the opposite which is NOTHING. All she does is throw any good potential suitors onto the “friends pile” and go about her humdrum, dull, pointless life. This has become SO boring that I am considering stopping my long-standing reading of this comic strip. It is SERIOUSLY time for Greg and Karen to breathe some new life into this strip NO more new characters please!!! (unless it a decent suitor for Luann that she does not scare away.

Pru may be a little too anxious for Lu to take a lover. As a jaded, big-city lesbian herself, she probably isn’t really in tune with Luann’s small-town values (it’s the Pitts, you know). Still, Luann is of college age now, and maybe she should a bit more adventurous than she is in the romance department….
