makes me wonder already: why did Leslie choose to keep one of the kittens if he didn’t know beforehand he was going to get into this mess?

Gunther says, "Les emits a cat-lover aura. It is a cuddly, approachable warmth. " In his mind Gunther is thinking, "Every time I washed your clothes, the catnip I left in your pockets is starting to pay off in dividends, baby!!’

And maybe you smell like a dead mouse.

Les is =not= enjoying the cats. I hope it turns around. Moe is a great lap cat and there’s practically nothing better than a great lap cat. Go, Moe! Turn on the charm!

Would it be against the comic code to suggest some catnip to liven things up?

Ah. It look like the “Old Les” is back today.

And he hasn’t crack a smile all week, poor guy.

Gunther? Maybe you should head down to the shelter and “adopt” an armful of kittens. You know. To keep Moe, Punk and your roommate, “Mr. Sunshine,” company.

Maybe Les has found his true calling – as a cat bed sitter…

Note to Trilogy – What Mordock999 and others have pointed out is what I am concerned about: If Les does not like having the cats around, the cats will figure that out. It is then that I figure the cats may turn mean.

The week finished by reaffirming to us that, deep down inside, in spite of his occasional appearances of niceness, deep down inside, he is still a jerk.

And the cats will at some point reflect their owner.

Unless Gunther can somehow save the day!

heh they probably won’t admit it out loud, but those two actually like having each other for company for the most part.

Because cats have lap-radar, and it seems Les is always siting back lounging instead of doing something.

I just hope the cats don’t emit something.

Cool it, Les. Maybe it’s not you. Mow just wants the softest spot and your lap is the spot. Punk just wants to play with Moe’s wiggly tail. If you just move Moe to the chair cushion, Punk will jump off and continue to play with Moe’s tail. But I see you’re still sitting so I think you secretly enjoy their company but don’t want Gunther to think you do. Know what? Gunther sees through you. He knows you adore them.

I was sort of thinking that Les is a cat person. I wonder when he’ll find out.

Gunther is an University Student studying Engineering and has a hot Girlfriend who is into wearing costumes and is a business major.

Punk is okay. To Les, Irma, and Gunther: I say hit the road, you bums, you remind me of the days when I had to deal with in-laws.

Punk likes Les and Moe also likes Les. I think Gun might be on to something.

I love how in spite of all of his protests, he is making no actual effort at getting the cats off of him.

With Valentine and kitty cat arcs we have had a month of Sundays.

Washing his clothes with catnip? That is funny, but I think as far as Les and at least these two felines he is natural catnip. Serves him right, and actually is a good thing..

I wish Les would be allowed to just show his true self occasionally, especially with this cat thing. Can’t he just NOT be a jerk about one thing?? He might even end up enjoying it!

I’ll say it again, let’s have a revamp and have Gunth and Les as stars for this comic strip!

Anybody remember a few years ago a lot of news stories about a cat named Oscar who lived in a nursing home, and would lavish his attention on those who died soon after? There were a lot of theories about what he was responding to but none of them were really compelling.

Les has no problem with the cats. He adores Punk, and if someone tries to take Punk from him it will not go well. Les has a problem with anyone knowing he adores Punk. He has a problem with others thinking that he IS NOT put out by the cats antics. That might look like he is weak and has emotions. Les hides so he won’t have to feel anymore. No dad, a witch for a mother. Just him and Al. Yuk

Since Gunther does all the laundry, he is secretly putting catnip in the loads of Les’ clothes. Way to go, Gunth!

Next, open the seam in Les’ beanbag chair and sew some catnip in there. Next, while Les is at work, put some catnip all underneath his mattress protector on his bed. Finally, put the smell of some slightly used cat litter in Les’ shoes. That should about do it. Total kitty immersion for our old buddy, Les.

Gunther’s smug face and shirt buttoned up all the way don’t make him very approachable, either.

Seems to me that Les and Gunther are getting used to each other. They can have a conversation without yelling and drama. That’s a good thing.

Cats are attracted by the person who will be the more annoyed by their presence. It is a mental power they all share.

Why do I get the feeling that someday these two will be sharing an apartment in a large city, having both been married and divorced, and they’ll drive each other crazy?

Cats like to hang around people who won’t bother them, like people with an allergy to cats.

Dogs need us. If they get lost they won’t survive. Cats on the other hand don’t need us. They will survive just fine. A friend of mine found a feral kitten and raised it. At first it was very shy but eventually it became a friendly cat

The hatred of Les is discouraging among some of you.. “people don’t change…” bu they can. Many do.

Gee, Les, I notice you aren’t getting the cats off of you.

Never Never Never adopt less than 2 kittens…..Cruel for the humans and the kitten involved.

One kitten can grow up scratching you (since at least two kittens teach each other to play with claws retracted.) They do best having another kitten to play with. People miss a lot of entertainment seeing the antics of two kittens and get a lot of grief instead by only having one kitten. In later life two cats keep each other active and are good companions.

People say that cats are attracted to people who don’t like cats, but that is not my experience. I’m fond of cats, and most cats like me, too. Countless people have told me, “My cat doesn’t like most people, but now he’s lying in your lap and purring.”

Excuse me Les, but weren’t you the one who decided to keep punk. And, the one who buys him toys, special food and litter?

Cats know when someone doesn’t like them and they glom onto that person. The only mystery is why.

Please let’s have a week of Max and Puddles! Maybe two !!!

I believe Les would appreciate the insurance “Mayhem” commercial where he was a cat.

Unable to pretend to be a bully to kitten too small to survive real attempt, Leslie’s exposed as somewhat decent despite attempts to hide it.

Cats like Les because cats are mean and nasty just like him.

My dogs are addicted to licking my hands. I shower twice a day, so it is not that. They won’t stop, drives me nuts.

Cats are drawn to their own kind: narcissistic, self-indulgent, selfish, etc.

Cats are so perverse. They always seem to choose the cat hater in the room to cuddle up to.

You’re not fooling anyone, Les! If you really disliked the cats you could simply move them – they’re not terribly heavy. :-)

Les is attracted at some deep level to express the unrequited love he never received as a child and teen. He was physically and, more importantly, emotionally abandoned by his mother. He was raised by uncle Al, a man, given many commenter’s opinions of whom, was an austere father figure and probably emotionally absent due to his business pursuits. He has accepted, at least, détente with his quasi-related brother-roommate. And he’s now feeling the appreciated attention of pets. He’s on the road to rehab and recovery.

Actions speak louder than words. Les could easily remove both cats if he did not want them on him. But he leaves them because he loves the cats and he is happy. This feels good to Les. Not all people show happiness by smiling.

I am glad that Gunther is deflecting Les’ attempted insults with some humor and smartness. Didn’t always see that from G-man, and it’s nice! :)

I think Les really likes the cats. They accept him unconditionally and he is not exactly turning them away. People complain and still love. He is loving these cats, folks! I see a real cat lover here. He just doesn’t feel comfortable perhaps with “love”… a cat or two will be good for him.

Actually, it’s because cats are rather aloof animals, and welcome a challenge.

Judging from the proportions in panel #1, Gunther is now 6’ 2", and 145 pounds.

Leslie Knox works at a restaurant. Maybe the restaurant had fish specials. Or Does Leslie showers with a scented bodywash or wears musk cologne?

Does his girlfriend knows? Oh yeah, Leslie still waiting for his chance.

Les seems to have a love-hate relationship with Punk. He definitely has feelings for the feline, but can’t stand to be “messed around” with.

One thing that makes me hope it’ll all be okay is that Les hasn’t pushed them away! If he hates it so much, why doesn’t he? Heh.

Maybe the cat’s are sensing Les’s future potential as a Bond arch-nemesis.

Les, you’re not fooling anyone. So just drop the tough guy act and embrace it.
