When you look at Pearls Before Swine do you see some comic figures or just a bunch of squiggly lines?

The curse of negative space.

In before someone does the “FedEx + UPS = FedUps” old joke.

Note that the arrow goes from left to right, aka “forwards” to denote progress. There’s also an arrow in the negative space of the Arabic version of the logo, which points from right to left, which is also forwards because Arabic is read that way.

Until this comic made me look for the fedex logo so i could see the arrow, I didn’t realise tht i had never seen the fedex logo before in my life time. Guess it’s because i don’t get parcels and live in Canada.

I have a T-shirt that says “Schrödinger’s Cat Is ALIVE”, but if you look at the negative space between the letters in “ALIVE”, they’ve somewhat tortured the orthography to read “DEAD”. Here ya go:

Lessee, we have ads plastered all over the page. Now how can we work them into the content?

I never realized that until someone pointed it out to several years ago. Now I do always see it.

And when you look at the Amazon logo do you see a smiley face or a stylized erection? HA! Can’t un-see that one now either, can you?

I imagine someone will note a sudden wave of searches for FedEx images, and we’ll get a flood of “recommended for you” junk ads centering on delivery services.

And every time I look at the girl’s collar on the Wendy’s logo, I see the word “MOM”.

I was always amused by the FedEx Express trucks. So they were Federal Express Express?

Sorry, I’m too busy trying to avoid the FedEx tandem trucks that seem hell-bent for leather on running everyone off the road.

Well, FedEx IS a shipping company.

All I know is that my little dog hates the FedEx truck with white-hot fury. Every day she threatens to kill it (from inside the house).

Pastis is taking on sponsors now? Will tomorrow’s strip be brought to us by the two people in the Tostitos logo? Or Wendy’s Mom? Such flagrant misuse of the sacred page du comic. Still, it was pretty funny.

Saw a movie not long ago and there was a delivery truck that had “Federal Express” written on the side, and did a little double take. I had forgotten that’s what FedEx was originally known as.

It’s not just that, Hyundai hides a business man shaking a costumer’s hand in their logo, Tour de France hides a bicyclist in their logo (look at the OUR) Amazon has an arrow pointing on A and Z, Coca-Cola has a hidden Danish flag, Goodwill hides a face in their logo, Toyota’s logo hides the name TOYOTA and the face of a Cowboy, Pinterest hides a Board Pin in their logo, Beats hides a headphone in their logo, Baskin Robins hides the number 31 in their logo to reference their 31 flavors of ice cream, Formula 1’s logo hides F1, NBC hides a Peacock in their logo (although this one is noticeable as it’s their mascot), Uniliver hides many living thing in their logo, Cisco hides the Golden Gate Bridge, making them audio waves, Museum of London’s logo has the history of the city’s borders in their logo, Sony VAIO – Analog and Digital, and so on.

I recall hearing that pre-literate children are more likely than adults to see the arrow because the letters are meaningless to them, while adults will generally see the words first and never notice the arrow.

I had to google it and didn’t see it at first. I stared at it for a bit and all of a sudden saw it! No, like Pig, I can never unsee it!

is this the kind of pondering that goes on in a cartoonist’s noggin? I think the law firm got rid of Stephan first rather than vice versa. Of course I would rather myself read his brilliant toons than a legal defense of Trump’s cheating on taxes so the rest of us have to belly up to keep America running.

Just like I can’t stop saying “Oops” every time I see a UPS truck. The first time I saw one was at school and one made a delivery. Somebody in our classroom saw it going up the drive and said that out loud. Even the teacher laughed.

I never saw the arrow until someone pointed (ahem) it out in a comment over on that social networking site that shall not be named! And, once seen, it is so obvious!

You want your mind blown? Look up Hoag’s Object, the Barrel Eye Fish, the Peacock Mantis Shrimp, the Tully Monster, the Moebius Strip and the Mandelbrot Set. Just off the top of my head.

Google will be wondering about all the out of character (as per Google data) searches for Fedex.

Oh my god, I never noticed that; I actually had to Google the logo. I have always thought that I was Pig in this strip and darned if I’m not right!!!
