Yet another strip which I am certain is in no way connected with real life and is completely the product of the author’s imagination. (I mean, who would put a hat on The Child?)

I think the Woman is wishing for another baby. One toy for two children is only going to make conflict. Unless it is like in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016) where twins are fighting over one toy and the solution is to rip the toy in half!

This is how the aliens conquer us… not with death rays, but insidiousl cuteness.

Actually, aliens will not be green, they’ll look like small wooly dogs. Ever notice how many small wooly dogs there are? Ever notice that there are more and more of them with each passing decade?

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

    In the Royal Kitchen

Beatrixia: How’s everything going for the wedding reception, Thomosis?

Thomisis: Oh, fine, I’ve got everything together for the Kibble Pies, I’ll be making oatmeal cookies.

Beatrixia: Sounds like it’s all coming together. What are you making for the cake?

Thomosis: Well, that’s where I’m still trying to decide. What do you suggest?

Beatrixia: How about a carrot cake? I got the Rabbit family’s recipe.

Thomosis: And how are our little friends Bunny and Bennie?

Beatrixia: Oh, just like all brothers and sisters. She are Bunny, and he says she is Baby. Then they’re inseparable.

Thomosis: Sounds like a plan. And maybe a Thank You for Being a Friend Cheesecake.

Yesterday was a bit busy, and today I went back to hospital, where I was attacked with needles and knives again. This time they stole my gall bladder. They have divided it into three parts, and no doubt will use it for nameless midnight rituals. I’ll be discharged tomorrow, like France in the 60s, de-galled.

The only stuffed thing around here is Petey’s dog that he stole from the pile of Christmas gifts that I had on the upstairs bed for my grandchildren. I bought a ‘bed dog’ that lays flat, sorta, for Sarah’s college dorm room and Petey got on the bed and took over the dog. I still have it and can still see him kneading that dog for all it’s worth.

That show, The Mandalorian is an incredible success for Disney and Disney Channel. If you have the opportunity to watch the first season, I highly recommend it.

Also, at our local library they have a Baby Yoda doll by the book return and I listen to people give ‘oohs, aahs’ towards the doll while they return their books.

    Think of your family, ma’am

Please let them hold him and

Put a little share in your heart

You need to share, don’t wait

Oh, please don’t make ’em irate

Put a little share in your heart

And your home will be a better place

And your home will be a better place

    For you and fam’ly

    You just wait and see

    Another day goes by

    Still the children cry

Put a little share in your heart

If you want them to know

    We won’t let hogging grow

Next time just put four in your cart

My coworker got me a toy stuffed squirrel for Christmas. Not because of my nickname, but due to all the distractions that come in through the day with everyone wanting me to solve their issues. After about the 4th time trying to remember what I was initially doing, I had got in the habit of yelling SQUIRREL! We sit it in various locations to see if customers notice. I got a sign to go with it last week that says "I do not have ducks. Or a row. I have squirrels, and they are Everywhere!

Almost all of my childhood stuffed animals were destroyed when my mom’s basement flooded. But I have a pile of beanie babies, most inherited from her (most of the ones I bought came from McDonalds). And still have a small Pound Puppy that someone gave me for Christmas years ago. It was adopted as a cuddle buddy by Blackie Jane and I’ve kept it in her memory.

Today is International Mud Day. Indeed, mud is very international, no place is home without it … and of course, the pigs are celebrating. So should we—we may owe our existence, and all life on earth, to mud.

Most people take mud for granite, and while it’s true that some mud started out as granite, a lot of it “started out” as any rock you’d care to name. Why “started out” in quotes? Because none of the mud we have today is original mud. It is all recycled mud—the earth recycles everything, eventually. This is called the Geologic Cycle, and it is complex. I was going to post a link to a diagram, but everything I found was either oversimplified, eye-candy, or oversimplified eye-candy. So don’t waste time looking. Sigh.

We think that because granitic rocks are lighter than basaltic rocks, they floated (in a semi-molten state) on top of the basaltic rocks before the earth’s crust solidified, and probably solidified first, forming the core rocks of the continents (sometimes called shield rocks, as in Canadian Shield.) If so, then “original” mud was, indeed, derived from granitic rocks. Yet even such mud is astonishingly complex. Mud is composed of clay minerals, which is a bit of a misnomer, as “clay” refers to particle size, rather than composition. However, there is a suite of minerals that are only found as weathering products: formed by the chemical breakdown of a parent mineral. (Weathering is the general term for the physical and chemical breakdown of rocks, but that is another topic altogether.) These clay minerals often have a plate-like structure and hexagonal symmetry. As anyone who uses cat litter knows, they can be quite absorbent. But what you may not know is that some have the ability to trap certain chemical compounds between their layers. What does this have to do with life as we know it?
