Sadly true, Burt. The strife has been constant, even when it was not obvious. (Not quite to the level of the Civil War (with the possible exception of WWII), but present nonetheless.)
So true Burt. I have a lot of friends that are probably going to lose their jobs because an unelected, unvetted, non-congressionally appointed person is being allowed to run amok with a hatchet to get rid of non-existent fraud and waste in the government.
Puckmosis: So tell us about yourselves, young cats.
First Cat: We were sailing from Away when a freak storm arose. The ship was wrecked and we made it to shore. I donât know if any others were safe. My name is Huy. These are my sisters, Mery and Sera.
Puck: You are most welcome here. You can stay as long as you like.
Mery: While we are here we would like to help as best we can. I can do drawing and writing.
Elvis-Anum: My scribe apprentices have all been promoted to Master Scribe, so thereâs an apprenticeship open.
Mery: Thank you, I appreciate it.
Sera: This is a most delicious meal. I can do a little cooking.
Thomios: Thereâs always a place for an apprentice in my kitchen.
Iggy: And what about you, Huy? Do you like to make things.
Huy: Yes. On the ship I learned how to do repairs and make things in my spare time.
Iggy: Then you can join Iron Glove, Wally and Me on Burt-Raâs team.
Minor nit to pick â it was Admiral (not Colonel) David Dixon Porter who wrote about Lincolnâs intraction with the kittens. (I know â history buffs are tiresome. Sorry.)
Very applicable. Thank goodness these are cats and that their world for the most part stays happy and safe whatever else is going on. I am sad Lincoln week is at an end!
So, comic lovers, wondering if I should change my profile pic. One of Ollie, (nicknamed Potato, he is my namesake) Pepper, or Iggy with a beard. Help me choose!
That third panel is wonderful in so many ways. It makes me think of that if there are 10-gallon Stetsons for cowboys, then Lincoln had a presidential 3-kitten stovepipe. He could easily hide three of them in there, but only if they were napping âŠ
Not to take anything away from Lincoln, but today is George Washingtonâs birthday. Washington did more to save this country than any other person until Lincoln. We should all hold every elected official to their high standard.
The third panel made my screen blurry. So many hundreds of thousands of Men (capitalized as the BCN cats do) on both sides who didnât come back home to the family tabbies.
The incident with the three kittens took place at the siege of Petersburg, VA, where both sides built trenches that were the forerunners of trench warfare in WW I.
They were selling Girl Scout Cookies in the entrance to Loweâs today, so I bought a box of Thin Mints and a package of Caramel Delights. Theyâve gone up to $6 per box, so I got a Lincoln and three Washingtons back in change.
The last time I bought Girl Scout Cookies in a store lobby was on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the end of my regular weekly shopping trip at Krogerâs. I always think of it as the last ânormalâ thing I did before normal changed. The next day, the state of Ohio shut down!

Thanks for the history lesson Georgia and kittens. I knew Mr. Lincoln liked cats but I had not heard this tale. Well drawn and written.

The Moody Blues: The Story in Your Eyes
Iâve been thinking about our history
And Iâve decided though thereâs really such concern
For there is much about our past to teach
We still can learn
âŠâŠ.
There is good and bad in all events
Itâs all part of the story for our eyes
There is sorrow and yet there still is hope
I realize
âŠâŠ.
Listen to the past tell its story
Washes our worries away
Weâre part of the pain and the glory
And together we can build a new day!
âŠâŠ.
But Iâm frightened for our future
But I believe there is no need for despair
What we choose to do, weâll make it through
If we prepare
âŠâŠ.
The final word is yet to be written
And the curtain still open on the stage
There is much to do, weâll make it through
This present age!

Iâm not sure I agree with the statement. Thomas Jefferson made a very valid point when he observed;
âThe care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.â
