This conversation was long overdue. Hope it actually (gasp) resolves something.

She seems unhappy. That must be any she has so much to not talk about.Pru’s too good and not a proper one dimensional villain.Not bad work even if some might think it implausible.

Luann is very immature sometimes, but Quill can be so clueless! I’ll bet that he thinks that it’s all her problem.

I don’t like the way Quill is handling this. He was instantly on the defense.

There are “girlfriends” and there are “friends who happen to be girls”. Girlfriends can’t stand it when their men have friends who are girls, even when it’s totally platonic.

Haha, that scary moment when you realize that your girlfriend may actually be nuts.

I’m still predicting a happy ending despite the odds against it.

Luann is actually talking about her insecurities – albeit indirectly. It’s a start.

I don’t know if I like a mad girlfriend with a power stapler pointed at me. However being angry is really kind of a new position that Luann is taking, because before when potential boyfriends disappointed her I think she would not get mad, but be totally crestfallen. I would not call this crestfallen, but I agree to an extent that he seems clueless. He came back from Australia to be close to her, but also to pursue his theater career, and fundamentally the issue between them is the theater and the relationship as she sees it. Pru may very well be a theater person, not interested in the kind of relationship that Luann may think, but she represents that issue of separation. So…what next? I think its a new stage in Luann’s development, but it will take the whole situation to see how it turns out. Now that I think about it, she has gotten mad at him before, precisely because she feels he finds his needs more important than hers. How does this arc get resolved, or does it just continue? Man, and this is just a comic strip!!

Ugh, more post-high school angst and drama! I’m still not regretting dropping this strip from my email delivery.

I’ll go out on a limb and predict that Pru turns out to be a very talented and sweet young woman who happens to be Gay. This will either damage Luann’s relationship with Quill, or after he cools off, he’ll be touched by how much she cares for him. Maybe she’ll learn a valuable lesson about not being so insecure.

How does it go?… He’s not that into you, Luann.

Why are guys so clueless and stupid? Why do people STILL drink diet soda? I guess we’ll never know.

But actually, what I can’t get over is the comics on 22nd. Pru says she will clean up after show, because “You have your family here. Quill and I don’t” – and the response from DeGroot family? “Oh yeah, of course, how nice for us that you flied here to help us for free and are therefore without your family during Christmas! Now we can leave you here to clean, too! Bye-bye!”. One of those “without family” people is your daughter’s boyfriend whom at least Brad expected to see on 24th. The other is someone who stays with you because she is helping you, so at least for the time being, I would consider her part of (extended) family, too. And instead of being mortified and saying “oh, yes, indeed… we are so sorry you have to be away from your family… here, let’s ALL of us clean it up together and then go have a Christmas FAMILY party together!”, they leave people who are without family BECAUSE OF THEM to clean and go to have a party themselves!

The Green Monster comes out.

I’m a little tired about how Luann is always being portrayed as the jealous one. Insecure is one thing but sheesh. I thought she was supposed to have grown up a little. Course Quill is not helping things. I still say there is got to be something behind Pru’s motives but what.?

The stage was just built last month but they did use Moony Uni old donated threatre equipment and lights etc so I suppose they could need upgrades… But whose going to pay for the new stuff/ upgrades? If Mr. Gray was managing the construction, don’t you think he would have made things up to code? Also would he have suggested installing new stuff, instead of old donated ones? If not, do you think he would advise the Degroots that they needed to do upgrades right away? Couldn’t they wait on the upgrades until they see if the business is going to turn a profit or not? But then what reason would Pru Have for staying?

Luann, with that attitude you’re making everyone like her even more.

Tbh she should just get to the point where she pushed them away to be alone with Quill.

Stop soft peddeling it, Lu. Let’s talk about how your “boyfriend” spends more time with her – on the phone and in person. How she seems to be trying to get him alone all of the time. THAT’S the stuff that really bugs you.

They need to find a new make-out room at The Fuse and discuss things.

Quill is so level headed and mature, I keep being amazed that he sees anything at all in Luann.

I hope this conversation will end positive. Will there be a break up?

Quill in panel 1 seems more animated than I have seen him in long time, and perhaps finally a bit fed up with Luann’s insecurity. This could be A) their first fight as a loving couple; B) the moment of revelation for Quill that Luann is toxic and must be dumped; or C) the incident that causes Luann to dump Quill (and instantly but irreparably regret what she has done). In any case, It looks like we’re going to see some realization (anagnorisis) by one at least of these characters….

It is interesting how the woman in the strip all seem to be emphatically connected to Luann and how she feels about Pru, but all the men are standing around clueless. It doesn’t seem like Luann should be so hard on herself when the other women in her life recognize what she is feeling and validate it.

Luann has exceeded the staple budget on the one sign.

Let it all hang out Luann!

In all seriousness, I’m glad they are having this discussion instead of keeping it undercover for several months.

Gripe, Gripe, *itch AND Complain.

THAT is about ALL Your so called “girl friend” has been doing lately, Q-Ball.

Now Pru on the other hand, and in addition to ALL the things Lu mentioned, is thoughtful, compassionate, caring and above all, TOLERANT.

“wow” is a very lame response. If he cared about her, or if he were like a developed character, “wow” wouldn’t be the first thing he said to all this.

I sense the end is near. Just from his reaction. Looks like he doesn’t appreciate her attitude and jealousy. Luann best snap out of it. There probably is nothing going on, its all speculation.

Better make her put down the stapler, Quinn.

Wow, she actually opened up, there is a chance if he also opens up.

Pru has black lips so that’s the clue she is a villain. Remember Ann Effiel and her black lips? That’s Greg’s subtle hint. Luann gotta clue Quill in and give Pru the boot. Hmmm…Ann is a 3-word name and so is Pru. Another clue? Pru’s villainy involves stealing people’s lives because she grew up an orphan and thinking she deserves to have a better life by taking others’s. Bet Luann will figure that out now that Pru has shared this information about herself.

There is nothing wrong with Luann expressing her true feelings. That does not make her crazy or nuts or immature. There is nothing wrong with Quill not knowing how she felt. They need to communicate more, not less.

Wow, the girl has turned into a woman.

Is it bratty for her to feel like her boyfriend is totally being unaware of her needs or concerns? I am not taking sides here, but if certainly can be said that he totally is unaware of how Luann might feel with his preoccupation with Pru, and the theater work itself, even if it turns out that he is totally innocent (which I do believe will be the outcome). Doesn’t see have a right to a bit angry with him? Or she should just drop him with no discussion, or say nothing and be miserable?

If I had to spend one hour with that dingbat Pru, I would go stark raving mad!

Luann’s immaturity is one of the, yes, staples of the strip. And it is hard to know how the Evans could easily change that without having this pair be even more boring or implausible. I guess Quill could have a fling with Pru, or the latter tells Quill she is not into guys, or Luann breaks things off, etc. But do something.

It seems Luann’s problem is that she is jealous of Pru for being a better person than she is. Pru does have a career and likes helping others and is very nice as well.

Lu and Q should both make a New Year’s resolution to drop the pretense that they are girlfriend and boyfriend. There’s no relationship here, little that they share in common, and certainly no communications. Why worry that they’re breaking up, when they really aren’t together? Let 2016 be the year to go down different paths in life. This high-school crush has gone on long enough. It’s time to move on with your lives, you two! That will be a lot harder for Luann, of course, since Quill is ambitious about acting, and the only thing that Luann has ever been ambitious about is having a boyfriend. Maybe it’s time for her to start thinking about a job???

“Wow” meaning you don’t want to talk about how great Pru is?… or… “Wow” I can see you are really upset and I didn’t realize this. Given that Quill’s true feelings (towards either of these women/girls) are still an unknown, it is not even clear what he means by “wow”..The good thing at least is that there is no evidence that Luann is raising her voice… i.e no bold face caps on her words. But her expression in the last panel suggest escalating tone.

Impressive rant, Luann. I’m not going to get into the who’s insensitive/who’s possessive – who’s a jerk/who’s a “B” discussion. I’m just glad to see Luann do something interesting. It’s just not healthy for the strip when the titular character is boring. And she has been for a couple of years now. For the sake of entertainment, I hope this “fight” continues a while.

From emotions running so high, don’t be surprised if Quill just grabs Luann, kisses her, and they crash into an empty room.

I don’t think Luann is wrong to feel jealous or a little insecure. Quill’s happy to pay attention when there’s a chance to make out, but really he doesn’t seem that invested in her feelings. Sure he’s there for his career & she hasn’t made an official decision on hers (but she’s not just floundering, she’s in school & working), but usually in a relationship you pay attention to things your partner says & her concerns about Pru have been stated in the past to him. He has no real excuse for not being at least a little bit sensitive to how this friendship might look to LuAnn especially with this sudden desire of Pru’s to move not just to town, but into her parent’s spare room.

Be careful Quill. She has a staple gun and she knows how to use it!

I’ve observed that she lets things go too far. She doesn’t stand up for herself until she gets angry, and that’s just about the worst time to try and resolve something. OTOH, guys usually try to ‘fix’ things when what they really need to do is just give a listen. Quill ain’t perfect, either.

The character of Pru may have been brought in as the complete flip-side of Luann. For example, 1. where Luann is mostly insecure, Pru is overly confident; 2. Luann isn’t sure of her direction in life and work while Pru has specific goals and is driven to achieve them. 3. Luann tends to bottle feelings up while Pru communicates directly and forcefully. 4. Luann has grown up in a traditional home while Pru is the product of foster care.5. Luann is (mostly) a sensitive caring person while Pru is pushy and forceful and seemingly insensitive. This ‘flip-side’ has now moved right in with Luann and it is causing friction.

Well, 2015 is almost over and personally I think the Gunther story lines were the best. What was “the moment” he shared with Tiffany after her shower? Luann went to art class, Bernice finally met Dez and a parade of forgettable characters, Toni and Brad set a date for their wedding, Frank and Nancy acquired a warehouse and turned it into The Fuse, Mr. Gray remained a mystery, Pru arrived, Quill remained painfully bland, and Luann suffered through it all. The art work was great, but the story lines were choppy. Basically, nothing earth shaking ever happened. Here’s hoping that 2016 has a little more impact.

Quill has proven himself trustworthy and Luann’s immaturity is showing. She needs to grow up (I know…it’s been happening slowly for years).
