I have a perfect record. I’ve been wrong on everything I expected or predicted, but it might be Bernice at the door. Whatever, Gunther is getting hot and I hope that he forgets himself and makes a move on and with Tiffany.

Caldonia, if i recall right from group images sent by a runner in the family, footless thigh high leg warmers w spandex are also used by ultramarathon runners because they provide an easy-on, easy-off, light weight extra layer of warmth during the night portions of 50 and 100 mile races. If you look them up they start at about ten buck per pair.

Tiff needs to be very cautious around Gunther. He’s particularly vulnerable to her superpower. She needs to build up his tolerance slowly. If he’s exposed to too much at once, it could be fatal.

I think there’s been too much debate today about whether or not Tiffany’s hosiery exists in real life. Let’s all agree that she looks awesome in it and leave it at that.

Gunther is not aroused, just uncomfortable. He would never be at ease around Tiffany when she is being sexual. These two are not meant to be.

It is Piro at the door. He says Hello? with a question, wondering why Tiffany wants to see him. Tiffany heard the Hello and recognized the voice of Piro.

The person knocking said Hello? Tiffany can hear the voice. It is definitely NOT a female because Tiff could tell the difference between a male and female voice. I think it is Piro.

Technically, we don’t know what either of them sound like. Maybe they have similar voices. :)

6While I understand Tiffany’s reasons for dressing provocatively (somewhat “vampy”), I am very glad it is not a typical part of her mode of dress currently. I really have been enjoying the more comfortable, more casual Tiffany since college. While it is obvious that Gunther is a little “hot under the collar” because of his anxiety about Tiffany’s “look”, I also suspect that some of that “hot under the collar” feeling is also due to him feeling a bit complicit in this somewhat convoluted, somewhat hair-brained, somewhat less than nice scheme to prevent Piro and Bernice to potentially form a relationship. My wager is that it IS Piro at the door. What will happen? There are too many possibilities. But, it would be fun if Piro were to a) reveal some of his back story, b) simply say to Tiffany that he is not interested in her “that way”, or c) that he pops in to get something he forgot (he forgets scarves, so he could easily forget something else), and then leaves…. maintaining ambiguity. If I were a betting man, I would further wager that the person at the door is very unlikely Bernice. I think the current set-up is still too underdeveloped to serve as a plot image to get Bernice jealous (and she is all about Piro at the moment, anyhow). Now, perhaps in a few days, if Gunther starts to be more comfortable at least contemplating a relationship with Tiffany…. then I could easily see the Bernice jealousy arc forming.

I can’t think of a good reason for Bernice to be at the door. I agree those who have argued that it is probably a man’s voice. The door knocker would not know Gunther is inside. But if not Piro, who?

If it’s NOT Piro, the only other male it might be (in my opinion) is Quill looking for Gunther to tell him that he and Luann broke up. Gunther isn’t at home, so Quill would (probably) assume that he was with Tiffany. Since he doesn’t know which suite Tiffany’s in, he’d ask for directions. Knocking, he’d possibly utter a tentative “Hello?”

To add to the leg warmer discussion, the prior campus on which I taught was in more northern climes, and over the last couple of years there I saw many female students wearing leg warmers similar to what Tiffany is wearing in today’s strip.

While I think it will likely be Piro at the door, I am far from certain. In fact, I am concerned I might be disappointed if it is Piro just because the anticipation is so well wrought that I would hate to see it wasted on the obvious.I do suspect that a situation will arise either this week or soon in which Gunther feels the need to come to Tiffany’s “rescue,” and as with Rosa, it will compel Gunther to action he would not otherwise take. I had wondered if that was the purpose of introducing Les back into the strip, as he had pressured Tiffany before. However, it does not seem likely at all that Les is at the door now, and I suspect Gunther’s moment will come sooner rather than later. We shall see.Oh, and I echo what a couple of other people have said regarding the gift – I suspect it will be hair clippers, if it is even ever revealed to us. And as for Tiffany having a gift box handy, I will just say that my wife has a plethora of such boxes ready for nearly any occasion, as well as a stock of generic gifts.

What I don’t get are all the people saying that Tiff will get crushed if Piro isn’t interested. She knows she’s just doing it to help Gunth and is going into it without emotions. I don’t think she’ll be crushed as more as surprised that I doesn’t work and even at that she’ll probably just wonder what’s wrong with him or as she’s matured lately come to realize that not everyone is attracted to her as is the case with Gunther at the moment.

I had not thought of that – the “old” Tiffany certainly would have thought a picture of her would be the best gift imaginable. I am not sure about the current version, but it does seem quite possible.

Gunther has definitely shown he is susceptible to Tiffany’s charms. The question is, does he believe that their current “arrangement” precludes any special, er, “benefits”.

Well, I’ve gone on a serious posting binge today. I’ll give everyone a break and wind up my thoughts for the evening.--I was very pleasantly surprised to see this arc continued this week. Softens my disappointment in last week’s ending. Still not crazy about this “scheme” of theirs. I just don’t see how they think this is going to work. Besides that, one second Tiffany is telling him he should just be himself, then it the next breath says, “I got it. Let’s trick her!” --But I am optimistic about where this might be going. The way this strip works these days, it’s very rare for a story to be followed for 3 weeks. I don’t think they would be doing that if it wasn’t going somewhere important. --Also, I did another parody strip, this one featuring Quill and Luann. Caldonia, you really do NOT keep up w young female clothing options. Bared bellies show up in some situations, especially in warm weather. The spandex thigh high leg warmers are actually not at all unusual, both in and out of sports settings. There are multiple reasons and ways for young women to use them. Heck, i even know a woman in the fashion industry who uses them on her arms in cold weather. Maybe you should buy yourself a pair; they are common enough as a product that you can even find them at Amazon.
