As a proud Trufan, and trust me I did not get the idea for my username from Luannfan.com although I think that is fantastic, and I briefly checked it out, and its very interesting and I am trying to figure out how I will dip my toe in Luannverse, that it invites. I don’t think I will try to suggest a wedding dress, I have no artistic ability. I think they are all beautiful, but then I am kind of a sentimental guy. It should be interesting, and a masterful marketing stroke what will be suggested, and what will end up being the dress. I am a TJ defender, but on the grooms side I strongly suggest though that he does NOT design anything, or suggest the grooms and groomsmen suit or tuxedo. I don’t know though he might have a bit of Gunther design sense in him (lol). Great!! Now I will go to bed. I have no Gunther design sense, I just know what looks great, and Toni will be drawn at the limits of comic art I just know.

From most bridesmaids’ perspectives, the wedding planning doesn’t really begin until the wedding party goes dress shopping – or starts talking about options for bridesmaid’s dresses, if they’re going to be custom-made. Greg captured Luann’s excitement perfectly!

all tv shows and comic strips deteriorate after a time, and when the creativity is gone, the writers start having characters marry and or have babies. larson and watterston had enough sense to retire and recycle their great work. luann will live on in mediocrity.

5Though I have no drawing skills for clothing (I can, however, draw a damn fine amoeba! :) ), what I think would be especially nice for Toni is a wedding gown of simplicity with a cut and style similar to much of the clothing worn by Jackie Kennedy during the Camelot era. To me, that sort of design in a wedding dress would be a pleasantly elegant rendition of Toni’s peronality.

Sounds pretty. I plan to look at the art piece. The weight woukd be painful, though. Cost, too. Just bulk buying enough Swarovski crystals to sew over a purse could cost almost as much as Toni wanted to spend on the dress. better to just use some to sew on an accenting design.

Okay, here is something which might please not only Toni’s desire for simplicity, but also the possibilities of EITHER the dress having been Nancy’s if hers was homemade, given current ages OR Gunther having a pattern to work from, AND it fulfills multiple design preferences stated by commenters, not fully for any but it is a lovely basic design.https://www.etsy.com/listing/121695051/on-sale-1990s-bridal-sewing-pattern?The pattern is for a gown which is empire waist w the skirt gradually getting wider but not overpoweringly so, choices of neckline or sleeves.“ON SALE 1990’s Bridal Sewing Pattern – McCall’s 8635 Empire Waist & Bridesmaids Size 8-12 Uncut, Factory Folded”If a person wanted it a bit fancier then lace sleeves, or designs sewn on w Swarovski crystals would do that.

I heard a story the other day at a Pecha Kucha in my town. The speaker is hitchhiking. A groom and a bride pick him up. They say, “Do you mind driving?” No, he says. They retire to the back seat and proceed to begin their honeymoon a trifle early, which was very complicated because her dress was very complicated. Hearing lots of struggling, he says, “Uh, this is my stop.” No answer from the back.He pulls over, walks to the side of the road and puts up his sign. So keep the design simple, friends!

It is my hope that Toni will skip the girlie bride gowns and opt to be wed in her formal firefighter dress uniform. Brad should be similarly attired [of course in the male version of the uniform]. Firefighters in bunker suits making an arch of axes as the couple exits the church from the wedding would complete the honors due a brave couple of the bravest.Of course having the couple called out from their reception to fight an actual fire would be the kind of complete irony for which this strip has been noted.

White (wedding dresses) did not become a popular option until 1840, after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg. Victoria wore a white gown for the event to incorporate some lace she prized. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published, and many other brides opted for white in accordance with the Queen’s choice. The tradition continues today in the form of a white wedding, though prior to the Victorian era, a bride was married in any color, black being especially popular in Scandinavia. Later, many people assumed that the color white was intended to symbolize virginity, though this was not the original intention. (It was the color blue that was connected to purity.) The white gown is in fact a symbolic Christening gown. It is a variation of the white surplice worn in the Western Catholic tradition by members of the clergy, church choirs and servers and the gowns worn by girls celebrating their first communion and at their confirmation and also by women making religious vows. Jews have gone to great lengths to follow these Western (Judeo-Christian) customs, whilst adhering to the laws of Tzniut. Today, the white dress is understood merely as the most traditional and popular choice for weddings.https://www.marryjim.com/en/page/show/id/30/template/history

I could definitely go with your idea. Giving her thoughts and feeling, simple but elegant would be quite suitable. I can’t see her in one of those “over-the-top”, hoop-like dresses with a long train, and frilly, poofy lace all over the place – just doesn’t seem to fit her style and personality.
