Oh Leslie â you are in for one big rude awakening!
Lion_Tamer almost 8 years ago
I get the feeling that Gunther is about to lay the big âDude she is so not into you.â before they leave.
Argythree almost 8 years ago
@LION_TAMER: I am still wondering why so many posters assume that Gunther knows about Prudence. I honestly donât remember Gunther being around for any of the discussions about it, and most of them were just between Prudence, Luann and BerniceâŠ
luann1212 almost 8 years ago
Maybe the point is that Les is clueless about his âgirlfriendâ who ironically is getting him to do something good, while Gunther is clueless about girlfriends in general. So in that sense they might be the same or at least similar. As far as the mom or the uncle they are both clueless about the history, but want, for whatever reason, to encourage at least a friendship. That is not going to work, unless there is a surprise coming up. Lets see itâs Wednesday so by Saturday maybe we will know something. This is not simple anymore.
Argythree almost 8 years ago
Very disappointed that Mrs. Berger orders Gunther to show Les his sewing room. Just sets up a fight between those two, and for no good reason (other than maybe Mrs. B and Mr. G wanting to be alone. But they could have done that after dinner, anywayâŠ)
gromit82 almost 8 years ago
Even if Gunther knows Pru is gay, telling Les that doesnât do Gunther any good. Hereâs one way I could imagine the situation taking place:
Gunther: âYou know, Pru is a lesbian, so I find it unlikely that sheâs your girlfriend.â
Les: âShe is? Huh! Well, I was just joking about her being my girlfriend anyway. Hey, you remember Bernice Halper from school? Sheâs straight, isnât she?â
Gunther: âUh, yeah âŠâ
Les: âOkay.â [takes out his phone and dials] âHey, Bernice, this is Les Knox. I wonder if I could take you to dinner? And just to be clear, Iâm talking about going on a date.â
parto the p almost 8 years ago
So. Les takes the mick with Gunther and gets around to calling him gay. Gunther gives him guff back, including some bit about Pru being a lesbian. Les is all, âHommina, hommina, hommina⊠say what??â Awkwardness ensues.
31768 almost 8 years ago
Too bad, but Les has the upper hand here. Gunther will either answer, or punch Les. man, this is getting good! I smell a brawl! the end of âGunthieâ is near, I hope. not to mention that he may out Pru(ne) as a Les, to Les.
Brdshtt Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Perhaps Gunthie can sew Les a costume. A bright orange one â piece affair with a huge black letter âPâ on the back, or a vintage two â piece with black and white stripes and a cute little matching pill â box hat.
kenhense almost 8 years ago
Lesâs first comment about âheard from Rosa?â could have just been bad judgement with nothing else he could think of to say. But now â Lesâs comment equates to the first punch. Is Gunther gonna surprise us with a big sockaroo?? Mrs. Burger did turn out to be totally cluelessâŠ

Nice Going Ma Berger. Embarrass Your Son in front of His Mortal Enemy. Whatâs NEXT, making â Gunthieâ show Les those Embarrassing âBaby Pictures??â
Airman almost 8 years ago
Mrs. Berger and Mr. Gray are treating the boys like 6 year olds. The arc, itself, is wearisome, with a large dash of apprehension, and it features the most unattractive characters on the drawing board.
kenhense almost 8 years ago
Mrs. Berger has the 1950s mentality â In a social situation, itâs âRudeâ not to do anything anybody asks you to.
bigboxes almost 8 years ago
Still say this is unrealistic. At his age, Gunter does not need play dates. I would not have stayed around that long.

After Gunthie is done nursing, you two boys can run along and playâŠ
Sisyphos almost 8 years ago
Actually, getting away from the baleful influence of âRustyâ Berger (yes, Iâm fascinated by her henna-red hair) could lead to a twisted rapprochement between these two misfits, Gunthie and Leslie.
Now thereâs a plot turn that could have all kinds of unforeseen consequences!

Why has everyone avoided the easy fix. Gunther to mom: âMom, I really dislike Les; however, for you I am willing to tolerate him, please accept the fact that we will never be friends.â Gunther to Les: âI really have no time for you. Letâs just get through this for our parentsâ âWe can fight, whatever, anywhere else, around our parents, we keep it coolâ
sueb1863 almost 8 years ago
Why didnât Gunther just leave when he found out people he didnât like were coming over? Heâs a grown man, he didnât have to stick around and have dinner with Mommy. He could have gone somewhere else to eat.

YOUâRE ALL MISSING THE OBVIOUS! Maw Berger and the ubiquitous Mr. Grey have a thing going on â or, at least, want one. They have an investment in Les and Gunth getting along in the future. And, in the short term, some time alone.
Bernie McArty almost 8 years ago
Girlfriend? Someone is a wee bit delusional.
Outsideplaying almost 8 years ago
Miscues all around. Except for Mr Gray, who is laser-focused on Mrs Berger. Why else would he bring Les along except that he wants him to âget alongâ with Gunther? And of course Les is just as starry-eyed with respect to Pru.

Gunthie ârips Les a new oneâ, and then sews it right back up!"

Only thing I can hope for is that Gunther and Leslie come back in to find Mr. Gray having Mrs.Berger for dessert.

Both of the older adults are very rude to the younger adults. They treat them like small children. No wonder both Gunther and Les turned out so bad.
Cuckooman Premium Member almost 8 years ago
maybe Les realizes Pru isnât interested but speaks of the youth theater to impress his uncle.(probably not)Gunther can expect a little ribbing from guys about his sewing hobby.Les reminds me of a past idiot âfriendâ I should have disposed of quickly, but I hope he turns out to have some redeeming quality about him.
Cuckooman Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Les appears cheerful in a subdued way
Cuckooman Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Yes, Gunther would know from Quill that Pru ainât gonna happen for Les.
CalLadyQED almost 8 years ago
This is stupid. Whatâs wrong with Ms. Berger and Mr. Gray? These are GROWN MAN. They are treating them like 12-year-old boys. If they donât want to be sociable, too bad.
Gunther and Les should act like grown-ups and try to make small talk for the sake of the others. However, Bergerâs and Grayâs âdo this, do thatâ is rude, too. Matching rudeness with rudeness is never polite and is rarely wise or helpful.
howtheduck almost 8 years ago
I am impressed that Leslie knows about doilies. Meanwhile back in the dining room, the adults are saying, âAlone at last! What do you think is the likelihood Leslie will kill Gunther and go to prison, so we can both be free?â
maverick1usa almost 8 years ago
Well, at least Mrs. Berger isnât calling Gunther Gunthie but she is being over bossy!
mr_sherman Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Give Les credit. He knows what a doily is.
gromit82 almost 8 years ago
A few people here have suggested that Gunther might punch Les. But I would hope that Gunther would be able to resolve his problems with Les without resorting to physical violence. Since Les is antagonizing Gunther with rude comments, Gunther should retaliate only with words as well.
Tyge almost 8 years ago
@AIRMAN Now you got it! See my comment above!
RolloTheGrouch almost 8 years ago
Itâs fun to import some excitement into these story arcs by talking about Pruâs orientation, but it just isnât significant anymore â it faded into the background long ago. It was a one-time plot device to âresolveâ the issue with Quill. If Les hasnât heard about it after all these months of working with Pru at Kafe Kablooie, then itâs faded away like that missing TV or Tiffanyâs ambitions to become a star. The hopelessness of Lesâs pursuit of Pru stands on its own without her orientation. His creepiness and her obliviousness to social cues that seems to go along (in Luanniverse at least) with absorption in theater, would be plenty.
beb01 almost 8 years ago
So is this weeks sequence going to have a punchline or is it going to be awkwardness all around to no point?
Argy.Bargy2 almost 8 years ago
@JPUZZLEWHIZ: I donât honestly think that if one guy asks another if he makes âdoiliesâ that the first guy is just making conversation. Les is just letting Gunther know that he has no respect for him, and goading him to respond in some way that will get him (Gunther) into troubleâŠ
rimshot22 almost 8 years ago
Leslie thinks Pru is his girlfriend? He is beyond deluded. He is hallucinatory.
RSH almost 8 years ago
I think Lesâs finding out about Pru is going to play out more slowly. Gunther has never had any direct interaction with Pru to make me think that he knows much about her; and he doesnât spend time at the Fuse. Pru is mainly friends with Luann (and Bernice too). I think Luannâs involvement in the kidsâ theatre will eventually reach to Gunther (for costume work). he will mention the âgirlfriendâ line of Lesâs and it will go from thereâŠâŠâŠ.
STACEY MARSHALL Premium Member almost 8 years ago
Leslieâs mouth is cruising for a bruising!
Asharah almost 8 years ago
Gunther needs to tell Mom, âI have no desire to EVER be friends with Les. Itâs your house so I wonât tell you not to have him over, But I expect from now on to have advance notice when heâs coming so I can make other plans. Otherwise, you will have to deal with me embcausearrassing you be marching out the door when he shows up be I refuse to be in the same house with him.â
RSH almost 8 years ago
The âmy girlfriend at workâ comment of Lesâs doesnât seem to have any effect on Mr. Gray, who previously stated to Mrs. Berger that Les âneeds a friendâ (hence doesnât have any). Pru is the only âgirlâ working at the Fuse and Mr. Gray is her supervisor but the comment didnât seem to make him perk up. I guess Mr Gray only pays attention when issues that relate to $ and Lesâs owed payments come up
phxhocking almost 8 years ago
Methinks itâs time for Gunther to move out. Mrs. B is beyond rude; sheâs crossed over into being dangerous.
phxhocking almost 8 years ago
Guntherâs response, âNo, I also sew shrouds. Want to pose for one?â
fuzzytomato19 almost 8 years ago
Mrs. Berger is an awful mother. What parent of a bullied child, even if he is now an adult, would force the bully and his victim together? Now if she had said tried to meidiate some sort of peace by making Les truly apologize or whatever, then that would be different. But shes calling her son rude for refusing to talk to her bully. I hope that this blows up big for all involved.
