What is up with Tiffany’s eyebrows? In the first panel, her right eyebrow is down while her left one is up. Then in the last panel, her right eyebrow curls up and points to Leslie, while her left eyebrow remains unchanged. Is it possible that she suffers from some kind of left eyebrow paralysis?
This is a great step forward for Les; I’m not sure he ever felt he had a friend, before. And I’m happy to see this arc continuing, because we may actually get to see the conclusion of Tiffany’s plan. I’m hoping the plan involved alerting the police, but probably not…
If you’re going to be letter-of-the-law about busting your own son for theft, you can’t play the mother-card to get him to let you get away with theft. And if you abandon him, you’ve got to earn back the title of Mother.
I called this, at least this part of this continuing drama. For those who keep opining that Les and Ann are now romantically linked, and Gunther is out as a romantic rival, I never believed either that Gunther was romantically involved with Tiffany, but rather a friend, and now Les has said he is, in rejecting his love-challenged, grifter mom. Just like a grifter, expecting loyalty over moral, or normal behavior, no matter how bad you have treated your kid. Les has chosen Pittsville, not Eiffel. What happens now between Tiffany and her father? Is Ann gone totally? I still think the lingerie scam was just a backdrop.
The Luann Crew has shown Les the greener side and Les decided he wants the greener side. Smart decision. Time to break away from a parent who never was on your side and used you and abandoned you. Tiffany, I know you might not have romantic interest in Les, but please be a good friend to him – he will need it.
A disappointing followup to Ann’s clever ploy about having Tiffany’s Dad under her thumb. In this major confrontation with Tiffany, Ann should have tried to pull Les’s chain with honey instead of vinegar. How could Les have any pride if he kowtowed to Ann here? Ann should have realized that.
Big OUCH! to you, Anne: You are nobody’s friend! That Leslie became a fink is your fault: You have no love lost there. I’ve always wondered if you had anything to do with his dad’s death. Probably have been collecting his dad’s police pension since he died while on the line of duty years ago and have been charging your own son monthly restitution, leaching off him. Leslie just called you out! Looks like he’s finally leaving “the dark side.” As we all hope, And he’s found a friend.
Tiffany seems to be getting slimmer with each strip. All she needs to do now is pull her shoulders back and push out her shapely bust. Mind you, Ann’s dress seems to be getting shorter each day too. This is an interesting confrontation in more than one way.
Ann is definitely trapped in the corner and doesn’t like it one bit. I love how she’s drawn in today’s strip. Why should Les have any affection for her? She basically abandoned him, his uncle has raised him, and she’s only used him when it was convenient to aid her in scams. I’m so glad to see Les standing up to her and standing with Tiffany. Maybe there will be a match there later…but regardless, Les has changed, for the better. (And it good to see Ann squirm and not get her way as her house of cards crumbles and falls). She will disappear for awhile but will be back, as the Luann world villain. She will never go completely away!
OK… it sounds like this might signal a permanent change to Les’ and Ann’s relationship. Like it’s truly coming to a head. I agree that it’s time for Les to break clear and free from her, as she is of no help to him in the future. There was never a motherly relationship there. I agree with Les looking toward people who can help him in the future. Maybe Tiff (as a friend) or others. We’ll see. But, first things first. Get that phone back (if needed). We see that Tiff still has the list. That’s a good thing. Serve the Coup De Grâce, Tiff!
So today the tale turns to focus on Les. It is perhaps what the whole arc was really about it now seems. If this is the case:
1) It seems doubtful we will get to see Tom Farrell (I am a bit disappointed about that.)
2) We now see a cementing of the Tiffany/Les friendship. Will the rest of the week move into seeing Tiffany & Les talk about their friendship? (I tend to think no, not at this time.)
3) Ann is being quite vocal… but how will she “escape”? I still cannot see the character being jailed by Greg…. she is too important a villain I think for Greg to do that. Will we actually learn of her “escape” or will she just “leave” and her next actions will occur off panel so we will not really know until she again shows up some day? (I am sort of feeling now that she will just leave and her exit will be left unresolved. For me, this is a bit disappointing of an idea, because I was thinking an exchange between Ann/Tom/Tiffany would be very, very interesting).
4. With this likely continuing through to Saturday, how will it continue? (Not really sure, but perhaps it will be spiced up by a surprise visit from Uncle Al?)
Hmm. It seems now that Mordy has been off GoComics for several days. Does anyone know if he has been on the other comic site or have any other news? I hope he is ok, and his absence is just a vacation of sorts for him.
Thats it? Seriously, where are the cops? and IMPO Tiffs father will most likely choose Ann over kid.Tiffs confrontation fell really flat. Kids always believe that they are far smarter than the adult, until the adult proves that they are still kids and are not yet ready for Prime Time
A twisted mind works in peculiar ways. Ann thinks that Tiffany’s father won’t stand by his daughter’s side, yet she expects her son to do so.Methinks the woman is overestimating her control of men and people.
Since when was she “sharing her business” with him? It seemed to me she was giving him a small bit of the profit but I am willing to bet she kept most of it for herself.
This has been one of the greatest story lines here, EVER!! But, since the name of the strip is LUANN, I think maybe Greg and Daughter should at least give the kid a walk-in in all of this.
I may have kinda, sorta, called-it, guessed-it, whatever. I mentioned ‘Dark Helmet’, and an ‘I AM your Mother!’ comment some days ago. The desperate type (Ann E.) call upon for that immediate ally, when all they’re really wanting is a ‘stooge’, or excuse. Look at desperate Ann! Then, look at confident Tiffany … and NOW, a confident Les!
So far Ann’s only weapon is that she can manipulate Tiff’s dad. It may not be much, but as long as she has that, we’re not seeing the end of the one true antagonist of Luann. Leslie, though, I’m glad to say, joined the good guys nice and proper by siding with Tiff (yes, I know what I just said, but consider that Tiff lost her mean streak from her high school days and is just a sass-bucket now). We had doubters and cinspiracy theorists, but the bully became a savior. You go, Les. You go.
