burrito… good one, Luann (did she and Jack even pay attention to the lecture?)

“Burritos.” There used to be this place called “Speedy Gonzales” around My neck of the woods, that made the BEST Burritos EVER. Burritos Stuffed with REAL GROUND BEEF, Cheese, Onions and Jalapeno Peppers so hot, it felt as though someone had stuck a roadside flare to your tongue. OUTSTANDING! Naturally the joint went out of business years ago, but BOY what a Burrito!

But I Digress. Two things here:

1) With today’s Superman reference, it appears that Mr. Evans is acknowledging Jack’s resemblance to the late Christopher Reeve of the late 1970s Superman fame.

2) Luann getting Jack to carry her books home from school harkens back to the Olden Days when (Supposedly) guys did that to impress girls they had a crush on. Yeah, Luann is slyly “conning” him into it, but to Me that indicates she likes his company and wants him to stick around.

Jack appears to get better looking with each passing Strip and more importantly, he’s playing it cool when it comes to Luann and not fawning and slobbering all over her. He’s doing everything right. There’s a couple of guys in this Strip that could learn a thing or two from him.

And It’s Great to see a “Nice Guy/Everyman” WIN in this Strip for a change. Sadly, the last one was Brad……,

I will have to say that Greg has been developing Jack rather nicely. His forehead has gotten taller as time has gone by.

I am enjoying their banter. The usual Evans humor is rather juvenile and not all that funny but this is more collegiate. Hope to see it more. Love the burrito snark. Betcha she had a sniff right next to Jack who probably ate a burrito.

I doubt if I’d let Jack carry anything too heavy, based on what happened to her foot at the bowling lanes.

Well, Luann got three out of six. (I had no idea – looked it up on Wikipedia.) 50% won’t pass a pop quiz. Better study up.

If I have ever seen Luann enjoy being with a man this is clearly the man she most enjoys being with. They are funny, have a great communication and comment, they are simpatico. Obvious romance.

And after eating, they’ll have not- so noble gases to talk about.

Yesterday, what was on the back of the instructor’s pants was not a stain, but when I enlarged the comic, it turns out that it was a small sign that said, “Beware of blast”.

And helium, argon and xenon. Not sure there’s anything noble about burrito gas, but each to his own.

Good thing Tiffany’s on vacay this week, mee too, getting some skiing in in Whistler. With all this gas flying around as hot as Tiffany is, this whole place would go up. Along with the number of comments. Back to the fireplace and hors devours, check ya later.

Somehow, I feel a special connection with today’s strip. Not sure why.

Re: “So you gonna carry my backpack, Superman?” Luann’s gonna plant that big wet one on Jack before the year’s over. Did I say Luann’s a good kid and very sexy.

G & K are keeping us in the usual suspense about what happened to Tara. We left her at a party – where her commando attire probably went over well. I was thinking the party might have got busted for underage drinking – an unfortunate additional offense for Tara if that was the case.

I think we finally have an explanation for Jack’s spitcurl.

Not quite, Luann. They are helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe), radon (Rn), and oganesson (Og). I like seeing them flirt and a nice guy actually seems to win here.

So when is the wedding?

How long before Luann realizes that Jack is already her boyfriend?

Doesn’t Jack want to be a Vet now? That takes a lot of brains, so he’s not an idiot-type. And some of the best marriages started with just being good friends, but, are we ready for Luann to move into that end of the adult world? It worked for Brad, b/c he’s older than Luann and was such a schlemozzel that Toni’s arrival on the scene was the proverbial gunshot heard round the world!

In the Army we used to look at those two types and call them “future bolos”.

This chemistry class is devoted to teaching the names of the elements and which gas molecules have one versus two atoms in a molecule. Just how much is the tuition at this diploma mill?

Say, these two are actually fun to watch. They continue their “palsy” development. Humorous banner, shared viewpoints; it’s all there. GnK keep promising more but it is so much fun getting there I don’t mind dragging it out.

As I recall, the development of Brad and Toni took forever too.

Friends first is the way of a lot of long lasting marriage. I think Jack is the perfect guy for Luann. She cares about him and his future and he cares for her. I hope this develops further and they are dating by Christmas and maybe send it together.

SPEND it together. My letter P sticks sometimes.

These two are developing a very fine relationship.

Oh how sweet takes me back to when a little girl use to ask me that when we were in the 3rd grade.

Subjectively (if you believe cartoon characters can be self-aware) they each appear “flirty/palsy” at this point. Romantic awareness comes as a realization at some point. It’ll be interesting how it’s portrayed when it happens.

Do I see New Year’s Eve Party in their future?

Again, cute interplay. I am not sure if I would consider the gas from a burrito a “noble” gas…. “notable” perhaps. :)

I remember when we all first met Jack in art class. Everyone dismissed him as a typical college frat-jock. Now he’s developed into a genuinely likeable character. And I appreciate the subtle nuance of he and Luann further developing their ‘chemistry’ in this particular class.

Sorry, but I like them together.

Jack made a funny! The writers have definitely decided to boost his mental level from when he was introduced into the strip, when he was used as a character to be laughed at, not with. Maybe while they’re at it, they could re-think Gunther’s maturity level, too???

While burrito gas is not a rare gas, it only emanates from between the two hemispheres of the moon.

Ha! I wonder if my chemistry teacher ever thought of that? He had such an odd sense of humor.

As to the Superman reference, he does have the classic spit curl.

You can tell a lot about how people feel about one another from how they flirt. And Jack actually turns out to be good at it, definitely holding his own, a bit surprising given that at his earliest appearance he was represented as being an oafish chowderhead. Maybe association with Luann has put him in touch with parts of his mental anatomy that he didn’t know he had. After all, if memory serves, wasn’t it Luann who coaxed Jack to realize that his rapport with animals was an important part of his makeup? Then Jack turned Luann on to monster trucks. Soon enough they’ll be giggling over their chemistry studies (in a way they already are). Soon they’ll be holding hands and rapturously listening to Bach cello sonatas.

I never knew Burrito Gas was “Noble”.

Helium walks into a bar. The bartender says “We don’t serve noble gasses here.” He doesn’t react.

So what happened to the other girl they both knew who was supposed to be the third part of them being lab partners.

The tender banter of a budding romance? Or will it all fall apart, as seems usual for the ever-hapless heroine of this strip?

They have been orbiting around each other for quite awhile now, and the orbits are declining.

I think that they WILL end up as boy friend / girl friend.

Jack and Lu seem to be getting along great. But I did notice Tara isn’t hanging with them today.

They have great chemistry together.

So Jumpin Jack Flash ate burritos?

Nice flirting, but in the #MeToo era, she should carry her own backpack. It’s a metaphor for taking responsibility.
