email for more details.
A lot of folks have already guaranteed themselves a ride on the escalator going down over this one. Shame they don’t realize St. Peter always gets a copy of the unabridged version of everything….
It’s funny enough that the left thinks they’re the “Good Guys” But now God? An unredacted report is like raw FBI files, lots of salacious innuendo. It’s perfect fodder for the “Good guys” smear campaign.
When the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth is a requirement. Why should it only be a requirement of the poor, or at least not the ‘rich enough to have expensive lawyers’ people.
comparing a political party to God..wow, that is a stretch. I still thing this is funny because every single one of us would like to keep secrets from God..well good luck with that.
I like the image of St. Peter with a big ledger at the Pearly Gates; it makes for good cartoons like this.
But I do not believe in the Trinity according to some religions: God the accountant, God the lawyer and God the executioner. I don’t think it’s a matter of balancing the books. It’s not a matter of having a positive bank statement where you have more good deeds than bad, therefore you bought salvation.
I think it’s more like my relationship with my wife. We have our spats, but we love and respect each other. I know, without being told, when I am in the proverbial dog house. I think that’s the way it works. When you get there, you’ll know where to go without being told.
The term redaction and its close relative, exclusion, echo through our lives on a daily basis. Voter eligibility roles, diversity hiring parameters, census questions, health insurance programs, college admissions, ageism, sexism; the list is endless, as are the many promises to ‘fix’ all that by electing the kinds of people who are the knowing beneficiaries of many of those exclusions. The edge of the rut has become the only horizon for many.
Is he a legislator or a lawyer? Oh, I forgot…they’re the same thing. That’s why it would be wonderful if we didn’t have the conflict of interests where lawyers make laws. That’s why AOC is so refreshing even though she is a little idealistic.
Comics have long been an outlet for expressing views on our culture and politics. Think about the comic strip Pogo. Let’s not try to filter (read censor) this comic. My local newspaper dropped this comic because some readers found it politically objectionable. Now I willlingly pay to read this comic on this site.
Keep ’em coming Wiley! Shots across the bow, and full broadsides when needed, keep us on task in a democratic system. Cartoonists, really good ones, are a force for freedom and intelligent discourse.
In the actual cartoon, I would have to say that St. Peter is thinking, from the expression on his face, is “What’s the lowest level that I can send this clown to?”
I would added more panels and dialogue to this cartoon to explain why one of its characters appeared to have had been saying, “TRUST ME…THE REDACTED COPY WILL BE JUST FINE” if I were either its creator or one of its creators.
Jesus hath bled, and there is remission; Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall, Grace hath redeemed us once for all.Chorus:Once for all, O sinner, receive it, Once for all, O friend, now believe it; Cling to the cross, the burden will fall, Christ hath redeemed us once for all.2 Now we are free, there’s no condemnation, Jesus provides a perfect salvation; “Come unto Me,” O hear His sweet call, Come, and He saves us once for all. [Chorus]“Children of God,” O glorious calling, Surely His grace will keep us from falling; Passing from death to life at His call, Blessed salvation once for all. [Chorus]
Source: Baptist Hymnal 2008 #472Ladies and Gentlemen, those of us who find ourselves within the gates of Heaven will have gotten there not on our own merit, but by the shed blood of Jesus the Messiah under which our sin against His Father are covered and washed away to be remembered no more. Such is Grace and Mercy. Those whose records are not redacted are still under the law and found to be guilty without and beyond remission of sin once this short life has ended without seeking His forgiveness.
