Imagine Elly coming home in a bitchy mood as usual. She takes one glance at that and snarls at Elizabeth: “So, you failed your science test, didn’t you?”
I will never understand why some people read this comic apparently only to criticize everything – everything! – the Patterson family does, no matter what. Today’s strip is perfectly lovely and I feel sorry for anyone who finds something to be negative about. That says more about the poster than the strip in my opinion.
Elizabeth is me every Friday as a kid from age 10 on. Usually I made one of the meat sauces from Maria LoPinto’s Italian cookbook which my aunt gave me when I was 8 years old. In warm weather I’d also put together a bouquet from the yard.

Power out? Or just the kids just making up and trying to do something different after the previous situation?

The kids are growing up, having a baby sister is working a miracle. :)

Salad is an early course, so I imagine salad forks would go on the outside.

Good kids. It will be nice for Elly to come home to such a lovely meal after such a stressful day.
As the mom in our house, I worked all day then came home to cook dinner. I don’t think my boys even knew where the kitchen was lol!

The salad fork is placed next to the dinner fork, on the outside. With all the utensils, you essentially start on the outside and work your way in.

A fantasy come true for all, I think. Well done kids. Though, in truth, you have probably set the bar a bit high.

Kids today, with no discipline whatsoever, would have the house trashed in no time.

I gotta ask. What kind of a meeting would involve the assistant to the assistant of the assistant librarian’s assistant?
