“Hope” is attacked, just outside the employees entrance at the rear, but she surprises the “vampire” by fighting back. Looks like she got the advantage on him with her martial arts skills!
Instant Karma would see that wallop dislodge the metal vampire teeth so they pierce the inside of Stokes’ mouth and actIvate the rapid pump. It wouldn’t work as fast as tapping into the jugular vein but if his “minor tweak” improved the suction enough to exsanguinate even a liter that might send him into shock and that could still finish him off before the EMTs arrive. Of course if Sam says “I am trying to call for help! Now, what pocket did I put that phone in? No… nope… hmmm… There it i- oops, no…”
It’s obviously SOMEBODY in a wig, and Hope’s clothes that was waiting for our would be vampire to attack, and, when he did “swung for the fences.” If Tracy set the trap, then obviously it’s Liz. But it could be Brenda, setting her own trap for the would be vampire.
Top marks today to Joe and Mike , for the great images . Great action and nice legs also with the cloth and hat flying in the air . The bad guy is hurting a little , I wonder what will he do now ?
The old “brick in the handbag” trick. It should be Lizz, but I don’t think she’d use the bag as a weapon – she’d pull her gun and threaten to put one through his wishbone. I’d bet it’s Brenda.
1-Time to use the trusty… OH MISS, YOU DROPPED YOUR HANKY! line
2- SUCKAAAA! Now I’ll play the role of THE SUCKER! Cause I’m a vampire, get it? SA-NAA…
3- KA-SMAAAACK! HOPE: HA! Just cause I forget to load my 44 Hogleg don’t mean its ineffective as a crime deterrent when it adds 4 pounds of blue steel to a purse-punch! Charity said you Confidence Men would try to swindle me out of my new money just cause I’m rich. And blonde. And not real bright… Oh! My hat! And for your information, I DON’T CARRY HANKIES!
Professor busted! No money from Hope Brown estate for you to continue your research. To borrow a line from the Wizard of Oz, if you had a brain, you would have applied for a foundation grant. Where are these crooks found? Does the comic strips association have want-ads? The ones who have appeared in Tracy land leave much to be desired or "they don’t “draw” ’em like they used to.
These strips without dialogue are great! Stokes stalks. Pounces! And Brenda decks him with her purse, his chloroform-filled handkerchief flying!
I do believe this is Brenda Starr rather than Lizz (or even Lee Ebony); there is nothing to suggest that the cops arrived in time to set up this sting, whereas the swing-with-the-purse suits Brenda’s way of operating better than a blow with the fist or going for a weapon in the purse. Plus, all that was needed for the disguise was available just across the street from the front of Travel Today, while we see that Stokes was waiting at the rear, watching the Employee’s Entrance/Exit—wig, big hat, etc. Brenda could easily enough have slipped out, bought these, and snuck back in, hiding in the back room of the agency and then switching places with Hope.
Meanwhile, when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away, it seems….
Some women’s purses (or pocket books) tip the scale at over 20 pounds! Mine was a modest 7.5 the last time I checked. My wallet, on the other hand, makes up most of that weight and could double for a Brick!
