With all the events around Christmas being canceled… does anyone plan to go caroling this year? We do not have a parade, Candy Cane Day, tree lighting… nothing. Caroling seems like a stretch.
‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, all the creatures were stirring, particularly the mouse. The cats all hung out to give the mouse a scare, while it hoped St. Nicholas would deliver it from there. The carolers were nestled with the songs they had said, while visions of cookie treats danced in their heads. And mamma in her overcoat while my toes in rhythm tapped, had just settled our brains for our regular nightcap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, the mouse did not want to make the cats fatter.
Would that this scene were enacted in many areas now engaged in less thoughtful activities. T’is the season but forgiveness and peace seem thin on the trees.
And after they finish singing, the carolers are given refreshments, while the cats eat their audience. Hey, it’s 2020 – the virus may quit before Pres. Fruitcake does, so of course I’m cynical. And where’s their masks?
Does this mean that carolers are carnivorous predators stalking us poor human house dwellers, waiting for us to show our faces, so they can pounce and consume us?!

I love to carol. I love to be caroled. I hope the mouse will be suspicious. One lesson I’ve learned in life, you can’t trust a cat.

I LUV my cats, but a word of warning, Mouse: they pounce on anything that moves. . .or doesn’t, too. . .

Traditionally one gives carolers something to eat as a reward … I’m not sure the cats are envisioning warm cocoa and cookies though!
