Tacos? Yes! Shrimp? In the words of Puck when confronted with a pickle, “NOPE. . . . Nope, nope, nope—” (see last panel of the following strip: http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/hunting-lessons-are-underway-in-the-living-room/)
I admire Burt’s technique in adjusting the squelch just right on their walkie-talkies so their transmissions are loud and clear with a minimum of static (although, of course, there still is some. Wouldn’t be a recon mission without it!).
I love shrimp and I like tacos but I have never had a shrimp taco. This is making me hungry for tacos so I may have to put the fixings on my shopping list. We haven’t been to Taco Bell in about a year and a half as it’s too messy to eat in the car. Maybe some day they’ll open the fast food dining rooms again.
Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it. No waitsaminute. There’s shrimp tacos too.
Albert A. Cat, because he is a big weirdo, doesn’t like shrimp. He’ll beg for it, because he begs for anything his Man is eating, but then he turns up his nose.
Once upon a time in Mexico, without really knowing what we were doing, we drove from Tulum to Punta Allen, a fishing village inside Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. It was a 30 mile drive down a rough dirt track (I can’t even call it a road) and we were just in an ordinary car (like I said, we didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into). Once there we had the most wonderful shrimp quesadillas with the shrimp sautéed in garlic butter. We’ve tried to make them at home, but it’s not the same as eating them on that beautiful beach.
My family got its first dog when my brother and sister were toddlers. He was an adult from the shelter. My mom would put them on the rug with a small bowl of dry cheerios. She never worried about cleaning up. The dog would wait patiently and take care of everything they left on the rug.
We had a cat, Meep, (the loudest sound she ever made) who, on the day we rescued her as a kitten, ate six boiled jumbo shrimp that weighed as much as she did.
Too bad, I was thinking it was going to be shrimp scampi when Puck mentioned the garlic.
Shrimp tacos I’m a little leery of. But I’m leery of any tacos and fish or seafood. Same for burittos. I enjoy tacos and burritos, and I love fish and seafood. But I’ve never been too interested in marrying fish and/or seafood with tacos and/or burritos. I’ve only tried it twice, both out in California in 2014. One time was at an Arbe’s and it was actually good. But the other time my sister suggested one of the local Mexican places she went to from time to time, definately a turn off. Their non-fish items were great, but the fish item I didn’t want to order which she and mom insisted we get for me since I like fish so much was enough to keep me leery of the idea. It was like they went to the local McDonald’s and purchased their fish for the fillet-o-fish sandwich, heated it, and threw it into a tortilla complete with a slice of American cheese. Nasty. Fillet-o-fish is one of the few things I’ll get at McDonald’s if I have to go there, but as a taco or burrito I don’t suggest it.
Our cousins from Slidell Mississippi are safe in Jackson MS which is further north. But Jackson is predicted to be hit with massive rain tomorrow. We have not reached cousins in bogaloosa.

There are very few of us who have mastered the art of eating tacos without making a mess.

When this old world starts getting me down
Its troubles are just too much for me to face
I click right here and visit this place
And all my cares just drift right into space
BCN is cheerful as can be
And here the world’s sh!t-show can’t bother me
Let me tell you now
When I hear news that’s not this cat beat
I go to where the art is fresh and sweet
I get away from the restless crowds
And all the disease, floods, fires and heat
BCN, the best comic I know
Where you just have to believe to make it so
Let’s have fun at BCN
Where cute creatures put on a show for free
And Georgia shares it all with you & me
I keep a-tellin’ you
Right away when you’re gettin’ a frown
Visit those robber mice, they’re worry-free
And if this world starts getting you down
There’s no room for the blues
At BCN
Everything is all right

A conversation between Mrs. Malaprop and Lady Mondegreen
Mrs. Malaprop: Looks like I’ll have to go hungry tonight. We’re having skimp tacos.
Lady Mondegreen: But the fishcakes could all be in California, girl.
Mrs. Malaprop: Of course, we could all go out the the Bubble Gum Shrimp Company.
Lady Mondegreen: But beware the Southeast Shore in 1984.
Mrs. Malaprop: Yes. I heard the flooding was so bad they had to evaporate the beach.
Lady Mondegreen: But I can see clearly now, Lorraine has gone.
Mrs. Malaprop: Maybe that was just an optical conclusion.
