I agree with Elvis. Those podcasts have an unwholesome obsession with doom.

It’s amazing to me how many relaxation and ASMR videos are true crime based. I don’t personally find that to be relaxing. To each their own I suppose.

In the 6th panel, I thought there was a cow face but it turned out to be Puck drinking from a white mug!!!

I guess I should stop relaxing with “BCN” and take up an interest in serial killers.

Pucky, they were in a bad situation and most likely moved in with one of the local tribes. There’s DNA studies that support this. There’re plenty of unsolved weird things that you could be paying attention to! Maybe Dr. Scuttles has some suggestions?

Come on, Goldie. You were a Detective. There’s a glamour about solving the unsolvable, you know that!

True crime podcasts may not be the most relaxing but they are entertaining. My husband and I are finishing up listening to ‘In the Dark’ season 2. I recommend both seasons to everyone who likes investigative journalism. I really don’t know how we avoided binge listening to the entire series! Looking forward to season 3, hopefully coming soon.

OT: my condition

OMC, THIS. I don’t listen to podcasts but sometimes I’ll watch YT vids about true crime, like cold cases that were solved years later. I guess it’s mostly just morbid curiosity. Though I’m also more prone to watching stuff about ghosts, which usually means I stay up with the lights on all night. And that’s called relaxing! :D

I used to fall asleep to Forensic Files gently playing in the background on the TV every night, then TuneIn Radio started offering HLN on their streaming service so I could play that on Alexa and didn’t have to have the light from the TV. Then HLN changed their programming and FF isn’t on every night and it’s appalling!! I’m so bummed.

I’m sure this strip will end up on the front of our refrig with a “This is you!” note from hubby. I love my true-crime mystery podcasts, and I have indeed solved the Roanoke mystery by listening to podcasts.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Beatrixia: I just love to look at the history scrolls in the Great Pyramid Library. The 900s are a treasure trove of information.

Sophititi: Speaking of treasure, Tillie, Adobe Style, and I are planning to do a series of tapestries on the lost pyramid.

Beatrixia: I’ve heard of that. Legend has it that there’s a pyramid located somewhere near the oasis somewhere near Afar.

Sophititi: Yes. I believe King Katfu mentioned it in one of his scrolls when he was deciding what to do with the Great Pyramid his father built.

Bea: Yes, I have a scroll of his diary. Here’s one passage:

I am still not sure if the Great Pyramid can be renovated to my satisfaction. Perhaps I should list it for sale and purchase a new one near the oasis.

Sophititi: In the end he decided to love the Great Pyramid. But there has been much speculation on where the one he was considering is located.

Bea: Maybe the secret is in one of the 900 scrolls.

Uh oh , I was mentally checking off each channel Pucky was talking about in panel five…

I’m with Elvis – this is what the Woman relaxes to?? Yesh! Goldie and I want more upbeat please.

I like a cozy mystery. But true crime is not for me.

Happy Mother’s day to every Mom out there and every person, female or male – relative or friend, who has been a Mom for someone who needed it.

Marie, Holly-Bear, Mittens, and Belle like watching documentaries about serial killers. Sometimes when I walk through the room, eight pairs of eyes watch me in silence for a moment and then turn back to the show. Should I worry? Are these documentaries or ‘how-to’ shows?

I must be getting old because I keep finding myself agreeing with Elvis lately. I do love learning about Roanoake, though, so I will give Puck and the Woman that.

Happy Mother’s Day, all! No matter if the ones you “mother” are 2- or 4-footed species and no matter if the kids in question are birthed, adopted, or just loved!

OT: Home again… (R update)

No, I’m with Elvis here, Puck—if nobody’s solved it in the, what is it now? Past 200 years or so? Then you aren’t going to be able to do so with just a single podcast.

Of course me had said these years ago but not harms to rememebers once again.

So to test out the new graphics card I’ve installed in my computer, I’ve been playing the game Control, which is basically a love letter to the Internet phenomenon known as “the SCP Foundation”. (If you like being creeped out by the super/supranatural, you might want to give it a look; one of the entries is entitled “The Flesh that Hates”.) Both practice the trope “nothing is scarier” by blocking out sections relating to how the subjects operate or were discovered; more than a few entries involve something like “after the ritual was completed, the object began to glow, proceeding to [DATA EXPUNGED] resulting in █,███ casualties”.

Great montage!

I’ve never understood the fascination with crime and terror. Historical mysteries, on the other hand, can be fascinating.

@Georgia Dunn Speaking of true crime shows… If you ever get a chance and are interested, I had a small acting part in a People Magazine Investigates: The Long Island Serial Killer. I played the ironically named Dr Peter Hackett in the 1st or 2nd episode of the series. No lines to speak of, (pun not intended) but a few scenes I’m the only one on screen. Was a lot of fun!

I think much of those disappearances can be solved by the existence of spontanously forming wormholes. Also dimensional doorways can be quite a pest.

I agree with Elvis. The podcast is kinda disturbing.

I must be too old for podcasts. I don’t know why. I loved radio when I was a kid even after my family got a TV. I listen to things like Fred Allen and Dragnet in the car.

Not with a podcast, Puck. If the Lost Colony mystery was so easy it could be solved with a podcast then it would have been solved by the Jamestown colonists centuries ago. That was a part of the Jamestown mission, try to figure out what happened to the Roanoke Island colony.

I’m with Elvis—doesn’t sound relaxing at all. Especially in the evening, as some people do.

Patti Smith (yes that Patti Smith) is still working on her detective novel. If she follows her earlier pattern and records her own audiobook version of it, Georgia may have the chance to hear one of the most soothing speaking voices in audiobook history reading her spinechilling tale of bloody awful murder, blackmail, hardworking investigators and whatever else she’s got in there.
