Ot: back

Puck definitely seems to be of the mind, “Okay, we all had fun, but now it’s time for bed! (Maybe even past bedtime!)”

Since there’s been no use of catnip, I expect that everyone will get home okay….

Puck is ready for bed, but Lupin is just getting started.

The instant the party’s over there is Pucky in his jammies and bunny slippers, bidding the guests adieu.

I like Puck with his sleep mask and Buzzy mouse.

So many good details. Beatrix crashing like the kitten she is. Pucky’s one slipper (and Buzzy Mouse). Lupin and Sir Fig still bouncing off the walls (Lupin doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge about the bell, either, which is great). Tortimer feeling better.

I’m seeing a bunch of toe beans; Panel 2, Beatrix is passed out with her cute rear toe beans! Panel 3, Tabitha waving with her cute toe beans! Panel 4, Sir Figaro and Lupin’s rear toe beans still partying! HeeHaw!!

Buzzy, is that you talking? Goodness! Or is Bea dreaming?

Not very subtle, Pucky!

Their afterparty is a slumber party. All sleep, all the time.

I see Pucky has Buzzy Mouse. I found Foxy’s Buzzy Mouse in storage a few days ago. He only buzzes for a second or two when you pull his string, but he’s a cuddly little guy. I rubbed catnip into him and most of her other toys and scratch pad. You can almost hear the Bob Marley music.

What condition is the furniture in?

And, the kitten is asleep.

I didn’t really see them having the time of their lives.

Poor Bea! All the excitement has tuckered her out! She’s got the right idea. (yawn)

I always love seeing the rabbit slipper!.

Even Elvis enjoyed himself.

OT: Quick update

I wonder how long it will take the people to realize Lupin is no longer belled? Will they discover the missing bell first? Will Elvis in a moment of panic try to retrieve it from under the fridge? (And the people, mistaking his efforts reward him for being a “good boy” and finding Lupin’s lost bell – thus irritating Lupin, again.) Could one of the Robber Mice save the day?

I would be Puck in this situation.

Cats AWAY! I do wish we’d gotten to see more of the Ceiling Cats, Tommy, and Sophie during that arc, but I am fine with Elvis and Lupin taking center stage. Perhaps we will get a surprise Trevor cameo, since someone needs to carry Beatrix home.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Puckmosis: What a delicious banquet. It’s not every day we have Diem Carp.

Thomios: No. When they’re available, you grab the opportunity.

Elvis-Anum: Was that a new recipe?

Thomios: Yes. I got it from the Joy of Cooking scroll Beatrixia found at the Hidden Library.

Lupinium: And I thought the cakes with space-time anemone honey were out of this world!

Thomios: Next time I think I’ll try a honey and cheese course.

Sue Chef: Do we have enough cheese on paw?

Thomios: I’m sure we will.

Puckmosis: Well time to clean up.

Thomios: Thanks for the help, guys. I have a packet of leftovers for each of you.

Elvis-Anum: How did we manage to clean up so quickly?

Beatrixia: That’s easy. I just used the tips in the Hints From Heloisia scroll.

Brushing teeth, Buzzy mouse, Bunny slipper…..One has to admire the subtlety of Puck!!!

Usually it’s: “Not sayin’ ya’ gotta go home, but ya’ can’t stay here!!” … :)

Never invite Captain Spaulding to a party: he must be going.

MY family and the in-laws both had a similar style. Stay as long as you want for/to party, they just went to bed after saying good night all.

The kitten that plays twice as hard, zonks twice as hard.

What, party over? Dang. Me come too late for party.

So, when the people return, they will never know there had been a party. The cats will look so innocent and act happy they are home, won’t they? Little devils.

At least this is quicker than what we always call the Minnesota goodbye (also Dakotas, Mich, Wis, Iowa etc). You start by cleaning up around the guests and mentioning lots to do tomorrow which usually gets the guests on their feet. Than everyone chats longer while standing but eventually coats are fetched and donned and the party moves to the door. Further chatting as the door is opened, the guests exit followed by the hosts. More chatting as the whole group slowly moves in the direction of the vehicle(s) or begins to head down the sidewalk. Chatting, waving, and choruses of goodbyes continue until the last vehicle is down the block and the last walker is out of earshot. The hosts, shivering If it is winter and they walked out without coats, continue chatting among themselves as they return to the house, turn at the door for a final wave to anyone still in sight, re-enter the house and close the door. Usually at least 45 minutes; quickest I can recall was 15 but that was next door neighbors who just stopped by to drop off a borrowed tool.

@arolarson : If you are in the States, have you seen the episode of the Andy Griffith show where their cousins visit Mayberry? The visit is excruciating and can’t end soon enough. But they are so polite in their protracted goodbyes that the cousins accidentally get invited back for Christmas.

Every time I see Bea and her little poofy-paws, I want to pick her up and squeeze her like a teddy bear.

Easily one of the top five greatest parties ever!

I notice there is never any catnip or silvervine at these parties. I guess they have to be PG for the newspapers though. At my house I keep silvervine out but the Great Dane loves it just as much as the kitties. Jasper will even steal all the catnip if I let him.

The guests need a nap.

The kitten that is sleeping and polydactile? There is one at our local animal shelter. First time I ever saw one in person, not just a picture.

To get people to leave, I run my “The Party’s Over” playlist. It’s a mix of Edgard Varèse, Cecil Taylor, and Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music

Poor Bea is all tuckered out. Who will direct the boundless energy of Lupin to tidy up the house?
