Well, we have a name for the owl now, and thankfully the man is not eating the thawed out rat. I’m not sure what kind of owl that is, but it looks to me like a baby owl. It’s quite cute, except I think it’s his “partner in crime.” Instead of a henchman, he may have a “hench-owl” there!
He does look quite a bit like an owl with the big jowls and the feathery beard. Also, his nose is shaped a bit like an owl’s beak. If you look at the third frame of May 19, his silhouette does resemble an owl somewhat.
I was wrong and Durak was right! Instead of a fearsome hawk, he’s got an adorable little owl! Look how happy he is eating his mouse for dinner and he’s even winking at us! Awww…. How bad can a supervillain really be if he’s got such a cute feathered friend!
No angry here and it is so cute the way the little guy smiles in P.2. as another one goes down the hatch. Great realistic rendering of the bird in P.1. In P.3. I at first thought he was acknowledging his man’s ebullient mood but he is clearly looking and winking at us.
I hope Mike doesn’t get censored for showing a mouse in a bird’s mouth. That could be conscrewed as a gruesome depiction for something that goes into family newspapers.
Victor Buono died 40 years ago, but through the magic of comic strip writing and drawing, we can imagine him give the sort of brilliant villain performance here that he did so well and so often.
tsull2121 asked the question on my mind. “This time I’m not relying on henchmen.” So, when did he? Obviously this will be the tie-in with the Cinnamon Knight.
OFF TOPIC: Ya know, I am an idiot. Here I am working on and editing a book that looks to be 200-300 pages long, and I apply for a pulp story anthology opening. Even if I DO write fast, this timing would suggest that I’ve recently suffered ten or so too many blows to the head.
Seems like it’s a Sequel to the 1966 TV Pilot is being set up – Mike’s taken elements from other media before – Dick’s late brother has been mentioned – and that was from the first republic serial, and of course Karloff as Gruesome.
Hey,wise old owl.Tell your owner that crime doesn’t pay.
Maybe it’s time to bring back"The Headquarters Menagerie"—-a nice baby owl;Crypto The Dog from the“Riddler Wannabee”.Lena The Hyena might be a bad bet.
This movie nut hasn’t.Anybody see Buono in somethingcalled THE STRANGLER—1964?
…“All I need are my machines and my mind to carry out my plans”. It is going to be interesting to see what Tracy and company could up with to fight against this sort of thing. Might end up being a combination of checkers and chess played at the same time.

I love how they’re careful to show him eating a pot pie and not sharing Walter’s rat.

Is the owl’s mouth is really as wide as that? I thought the mouth is the beak. Looks like the owl is really hungry

WALTER PIGEON: That looks like Choice Mouse. I wanted PRIME!
2-TRENCHY: You’re my only friend, Walter.
WALTER PIGEON: And you can keep believing that as long as you never leave a door or window open ya fat bastard
3-TRENCHY: OK, I fed you. Now earn it. Do your Tonsils impression for me!
WALTER PIGEON: This would be humiliating if I wasn’t so damned good at it!

Rats! I like Walter! In each panel, he shows a different expression, all of them full of owlish goodness.
Not so sure about his human companion, “Victor Buono,” who appears to have some malevolent machine-aided plan afoot….
