I would say “It’s the thought that counts” but since this came from Calvin, time to make an exception here.

I never noticed Hobbes’s tail becoming a heart in the central panel until now.

I bet Hobbes is the one who sent that card to frame Calvin.

Last summer, I mentioned a Phoebe and her Unicorn story arc in which Phoebe met her future self as Calvin was meeting his future self in a story arc being reprinted at that time. Today’s Phoebe and her Unicorn Sunday strip ends with a similar gag.

Maybe Hobbes’ finest moment. He just ruins Cal. “Can I be ‘best Tiger’”? His face in panel #3. Hilarious.

Yesterday Calvin’s mittens did not come off when he was hit with a snowball. Today they do come off.

Calvin really does love Susie. He just doesn’t have any other vocabulary or manner in which to express it, other than, well…this.

I was look forward to this. This may be the best Sunday Valentine’s strip ever.

He really does like Susie down inside, Hobbes being his alter ego.

Doesn’t matter the message. The fact remains that he sent a card. Hobbes will have quite the leverage for a while.

Poor Susie. She needs some time over at Frazz.

LOL… and we all know Susie and Calvin will eventually wed. But, he is fighting it all the way. Hobbes is a treat – Calvin’s alter ego and subconscious.

Great strip today… Ultimate interplay between Calvin and Hobbes.

Going by his dialogue, I’d say Hobbes been reading romance novels.

I think Calvin really likes Suzy but is afraid to admit it. Suzy obviously likes Calvin too. That’s life as a six year old.

Hobbes is clearly trolling Calvin here! I love his sinister smile in the sixth panel!

Ach — elementary school, long ago. In at least one grade, we had to give St. Valentine’s Day cards to everyone in the class. The horror, the horror! Worse than square dancing, where you had to actually touch girls!

Being a kid was tough back then (and probably still is). They’re trying to socialize you, and you have no idea why.

I want to SEE that drawing of Susie’s worm-eaten corpse!

I love how dark Watterson allows Calvin to get, lol. The strip featuring Hobbes needling him over Susie ends with her enraged at him drawing her dead body XD.
