That’s funny. Technically the STRIP was born in 1979.

Good lord… Ellie and I are the same age?!

She might be 44 now. But will she still be 44 later in the year?

The strip was reborn, when the reruns started, and the children along with it.

So Elly had to be reborn, as well, or she couldn’t have been their mother.

A woman born in 1947 or even 1950, as Elly was in the original strip, would have made some kind of record book, having April without extreme medical intervention at 70!

Michael is fixing to lose a few brain cells too.

How can you possibly forget what age you’ll be? I’ve heard of people forgetting their birthdays too, how does someone forget their birthday? It doesn’t compute. All my life I have known just when my birthday was and what age I’d be, from the days I couldn’t wait to turn the next number and the many years I thought oh no, another year older! LOL

Mike is speaking of a myth. Brain cells continue to generate more every two weeks. We can control their growth and maturity with physical exercise and healthy nutrition. Use them or lose them.

Well then, Michael, you better not get too much older, because you barely have any brain cells to begin with…

Elly was born in 1979, eh? So according to the “no it’s 1994” crowd, that means she is 15 years old..

This appears to be re-copyrighted 2023. That 1979 date threw me. I was born in 1965, and I was in my 20’s when I’m pretty sure this comic first appeared in the 1980’s or early 1990’s, so I was younger than she is supposed to be here.

This starts the transition from “For Better or For Worse” to “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. And who said the comics are not literature?!?

Strangely, that’s a Friday strip, not Saturday.

Elle and Lynn were two different people. The age of the artist has no bearing on the age of her character.

Last year I spent the whole year thinking I was 57 but didn’t turn 57 until September. Google corrected me.

So, the next time the strip is rerun the dates will have to be changed again.

I hate this kind of gratuitous updating. This is an archival comic, and part of the genius of having the characters in FBoFW age in real time is that the reflect the lifestyles of the era. This does not take place in the 21st century.

Jeez, I’m old enough to be Elly’s father!!! I was 23 in 1979. Sooooooo long ago…

Age or year has nothing to do with it. She simply has Mommy brain which is pretty full to start with.

Presuming that these were not reprints of a strip that ended on August 30, 2008, that would have made Ellie an infant when the strip premiered on 1979.

“Hey Ellie – I was in college when you were born. You’re a kid. You’re welcome.”

The real question is why didn’t her husband catch that?

I remember just before my 13th birthday my brother asked how it felt to be turning into a teenager. I said “no, I’ll only be 12.” And he asked “You’re only 11?” I said “No, I’m 12. (dead silence for a minute) Oh.”

Normally this would result in a dunce cap. However, with Michael’s weird head shape the dunce cap would sink down over his face. Then all the Catholics and minorities would run away from him.

She was “born” in 1979 in the sense of that being the first strip. But she was an adult at the time.

One thing is for sure; if Elly was born in 1979, then it was impossible for her to have been a hippie in the 1960s. These strips sure are inconsistent.

No, she was born in 1799, and still ain’t happy that she can no longer own SLAVES!
