There is a bit of the first account in Genesis here. Day 1 – light. Day 2 – Sky & sea. Day 3 – land. Day 4 – source for light. Day 5 – birds & fish. Day 6 – creatures for land culminating in male & female. And recognize it is different from the second account where everything is made for the benefit of Adam. But neither is the creatio ex nihilo of Christian theology but both are riffs are the Mesopotamian bringing order to chaos.

Several weeks ago, one of the readings at our service one of the readings was from Genesis and about how God created creatures great and small. At this point one of God’s smaller creatures, a mouse, ran out from under the piano.

One of the women chased after it and caught it in her dress. She took it outside and threw it in our garden.

I wondered what people driving by must have thought as they saw this woman flipping up the front of her dress.

“Martha, pull in here. It looks like these people know how to throw a fun service.”

If there is an opposite end to “high mass,” that’s our services. They meet all the requirements of a Eucharist (barely) but definitely not solemn.

Cats are the only domestic animal not mentioned in the Bible. I’m amused to think that God sees them as too independent to deal with.

Another version of the creation story,God created the heavens then rested.God created the earth then rested.God created all the animals then rested.God created man then rested. Then God created women and since then neither God or man has had any rest.

Creation should have taken billions of years, but instead God made a rush job of it and threw the while thing together in just 6 days. That’s why nothing really works right.

Ever wondered about the wildebeest and the warthog? He had a quota.

This is such heresy. Men and Women are the beloved creation of God. We are created in HIS image.

God continues to love his children and never rejects them. His grace and mercy endure forever! We are the ones who reject Gd by not following his will.

Humanity was doing ok for the first million or so years. As long as we were ‘hunter-gatherers’ and considered ourselves an integral part of the biosphere we were fine, even though we did start altering the ecosystem a long time ago. So do Beavers, Termites, Elephants and Ants. The problems started when we began animal husbandry and sedentary agriculture, which led to the idea of us ‘owning’ animals, land and other humans. Add in the ‘Paternal’ religions like Judaism, Christianity, Islam and even Zoroastrianism (the mostly currently unknown, and unacknowledged contributor of a lot of current ‘Christianity’ thanks to Saul of Tarsus initially and especially re-engineering by the Romans) and it became not just our right but our duty to Overcome nature instead of being part of it. It’s been a downward spiral ever since.
