Only Michael would think he would do well on an exam for no other reason than he studied till 4 am. Most regular students know how well they did on an exam by how many of the answers to the questions they knew.
Is there anybody else here who did not study just before a test? I never saw the point: if I needed to study I did it about as early as I could, right after the lesson if possible.
Typical university student. No parent to nag you to study, and professors don’t care. Professors do not even care if you show up to class. Many have student lecturers, who do the work for them. Once they get tenure, many profs do “research”…another work for “nothing” and getting paid for it, and cannot get fired.
I had to learn early on in college, much to the dismay of my friends. That I had to quit partying or get good grades. I quit the parties. Lost some friends. Got an education and a great life.Yay! But that was over 50 years ago. I’m sure it’s different now. lol.
The English department I worked in required all its majors to have at least a one-semester internship of some kind so that they could have that on their records when looking for a job. They often have more trouble getting an initial position but many do very well in business and government jobs.
Gotta love Michael’s always-mutating mustache! Hitler in the first panel to past the corners of his mouth in the second. Hitler’s back in panels 3-6. Fu Manchu in the 7th, pornstache in the 8th, Sam Elliot in the 10th, and gone in the final panel.
Another factor to consider is how useful will it be when Michael leaves the ivory tower of academia and has to apply what he learned in the real world?
If the test he just flunked was in math, science, or geography, that could be a problem and he better buckle down.
If the test he just flunked was in gender studies, Michael ought not lose any sleep.
Wanted to comment on my own experiences on here, but it seems the GoComics censors deem it as “containing banned word(s)” yet, no matter how many ways I try to edit it (even though I cannot find anything that falls under their guidelines anywhere in my copy) they keep flagging it. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Michael appears to be the only student in that college who looks normal!!
Must be an open-admissions school that accepts any geek who applies.

My experience in school was I either knew it or I didn’t, studying helped but not to the degree that I would get a really bad grade if I didn’t study.
KageKat about 1 year ago
It was never quite this bad, but I definitely cut my studying too close a few times in school!

To make what you are learning stick, it works better if you study first and then relax with friends.

LOL… all the “tests” at college are in the classrooms… Will see if Mike learns that lesson soon enough.

Was Michael a fan of a 1980s cartoon show about an undersea race of creatures? He said “Snork” in the eighth panel.

College is not a Marx Brothers movie.
Michael will have to realize he cannot burn his candle at both ends.
