I will move back into the dorm, because I’ve stayed with the DeGroots long enough.
Followed by:
And when the Summer comes, I’m moving from the dorm to My parent’s house after I’ve kicked my brother and his kids out because they too, have stayed there long enough to have made other “living arrangements.”
And if I find out that my brother and his kids actually moved out three years ago, but my parents didn’t bother to tell me, then I’m going to have a very long unpleasant conversation with mom and pop. – Bernice ;-)
Bernice just can’t avoid to psychoanalyze her best friend. That’s not exactly a good thing to do, especially if you’re commenting it with one of her parents. I hope this arc is about Bernice talking to Luann and helping her choose new resolutions that are more realistic and less vague, connecting with her while doing it. Because bein on Bernice that finally realize how heavy-handed, rude and negative she is would be a miracle. But maybe, if Luann finally reacts to her constant criticism…. However, aside from Bernice, it’s really sad to see what a low opinion Frank has of his daughter.
Want a scary thought? The USA produces more psychologists than engineers. So, while our highways are falling apart, climate change is raging because of our antiquated power generation system, and we face serious threats from China (Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, and Electrical Engineer) the USA produces a plethora of psychologists to examine the feelings of the situation.
I thought Bernice moving in with the Degroots was a plot device to keep having the scenes of her and Luann discussing life in Luann’s room. I guess there have been a few of those. But not enough to matter. (And were they that entertaining anyway?)
Bernice now seems to be an “obsolete” character and should go the way of Knute and Crystal and many others. She hasn’t been a “best friend” in forever – mostly due to Luann moving on to new friends. It happens and it’s normal.
I enjoy having Bernice there. I don’t particularly LIKE her but she does add at an interesting dynamic to the household and since she is Luann’s oldest friend, she acts as a foil for Luann, similar to the role Brad had when he lived at home.
In any walk of life it’s pretty gutsy (and not a good gutsy) to run down someone’s daughter while a guest in their house. That’s just being a decent human being.
Bernice should worry less about Luann’s resolutions and more about her own living situation. Or does she plan to take advantage of the Degroots’ kindness forever? Surely her brother has found a job by now? Or maybe she herself should try and get a job? She clearly has plenty of free time, after all.
I’ve known few psychology majors that were like this. No real-world experience, but will tell you “based on my experience (unsaid: with text books)…” SMH

Let’s hope Bernice’s main NYR is to quit imposing on the Degroots and find another place to live.
.
I wonder if Luann has found all the dog urine stains that magically appeared when Bernice was taking car of Puddles?? ;)

How about YOUR “resolutions,” Bernice?
Might I suggest:
I will move back into the dorm, because I’ve stayed with the DeGroots long enough.Followed by:

Why in the world did LuAnn ever pick Bernice for a friend? She’s a constant downer/nagger…irritating!

Finally, Frank says something worthy. Why not just hand Bernice a broom and wish her a safe flight back to the coven?
