Y’know, the fact that these jokes still remain topical in the strip’s 36 year run is kinda sad when you think about it. Especially when any attempts to push for better meals in schools and just let the kids eat them without having to pay out of pocket gets met with abject vitriol, usually from people who otherwise cry “think of the children!”
It’s probably identical to the miracle health supplements sold on the Internet for much, much more. Click START below to watch the three hour testimony.
My mom used to make a great salad/desert using lime jello, cool whip, chopped pecans, etc. Us kids named it Green Glop. My wife copied it and so our kids called it Green Glop. Now the daughter-in-law makes it and the grandkids call it Green Glop. It’s a family tradition.
Meanwhile in France, each public school has a real trained chef preparing nutritious and delicious multi-course cuisine (no Tater Tots or soy enhanced mystery meat in sight) with plenty of water instead of sugary artificial drinks and hormone laced milk. When I watched one of the videos about this I about went into shock as they sat down to meals that would cost you and me and you $50-$100 at a nice restaurant. All of which is subsidized by the state.

It was recently brought to my attention that onion rings are actually vegetable donuts, and lasagna is spaghetti flavored cake….

I guess I never realized how good we had it at our schools. Our meals were as good as homemade. (according to some students… better than homemade)

Today we’re leaving out the shingle. Someone decided the kids are getting too much starch.

My bet is that “glop” is way tastier and nutritious than anything at Bucca di Buffalo

“The can just says ‘glop’” is a great punch line. I don’t often audibly laugh at comics, but I did here.

The school must have shopped at the store from Repo Man (IYKYK)…
And “Buca di Buffalo” for family style spaghetti and wings—LOL

Never took a risk eating cafeteria food when I was in high school. Just ate/slurped down a chocolate milk shake. Ahhh! ;-p

Spook had a better tasting swill.
